Do you surf for fun much anymore?

I think that I very rarely surf around the 'net for fun anymore where as when I first got on the 'net I could do it for hours. Not sure if that is because I spend so much time on it for work or simply because it isn't as new and exciting anymore.

The Duck 02-02-2006 04:19 AM

I do it all the time.

SBJ 02-02-2006 04:21 AM

I do from time to time but normally it starts when I surf to a new affiliate I'm checking out then I get bored and surf around to see new sites and girls

And I still find myself surfing ebay just for something to do when I'm bored

jscott 02-02-2006 04:23 AM

i never do either, i only surf porn for work related shit

2HousePlague 02-02-2006 04:27 AM

Hmmm -- I haven't been asked that question in a while -- :)

Well, to preserve and extend the "surfing" metaphor, I guess I am not so much surfing anymore (venturing out from the beach with my longboard in the AM) as I am treading water, free-diving and eating lots of fresh-caught fish -- :)

Nope.
I spend too much time in front of this damn blasted contraption that I do whatever I can to get away from it.

I was just talking about this the other day with a friend. I don't surf much either anymore, and I don't know why. When I first got my Trumpet Winsock installed back around '93, and surfed the web... I could surf for hours looking at everything there was to see.

I felt like I was expanding my mind to such great lengths. But now I feel like I've seen pretty much all I desire to see through my own curiosity. Now I pretty much just use it as a business tool.

I dunno if that's a good thing or not.

I never surf anymore.. if I am on the computer it's usually for work or checking emails. Once I am done with work, I rarely even touch the computer!

mikeyddddd 02-02-2006 07:26 AM

No, but I never have.

Although it is sometimes entertaining, my initial foray into the internet was for business and educational reasons. Nothing has changed.

mardigras 02-02-2006 07:34 AM

I find myself looking up things I've seen on TV (more info on a news story, info on a performer, etc.) and from there I tend to drift into attatched links:upsidedow

Gnat69 02-02-2006 07:39 AM

Nah not really here either......I just can never think of what I want to surf for. I tend to got to all the same sites all the time, and of course 95% work....

I rarely ever surf anymore. If I do its just to read up on local news but thats about it. Sometimes I will check out a niche site in somebodys sig or something and usually I find about 5 sponsors on it that I'm not promoting yet. That will always motivate me. I bookmark it in a "future sponsors" folder and get back to work immediately.

I guess my "surfing" would consist reading the boards like this. I surf and see whats new or newsworthy. Most times I will find something that motivates me back to work as well.

Recently started to look for new things again on the net...and I must say its refreshing.

After looking everyday and the same "sort of thing" one doesn't get an idea of the whole potential of the internet :)
