Anyone in Oregon?
 

Can anyone tell me if Salem is "industry friendly"? Thinking of moving there, unless they do witch hunts like Polk County.

I live in oregon but not in salem. It's more conservative than portland that is for sure but I don't really go there very often or know much about it so I'm not going to be much help.

I grew up in Oregon (Portland) and made it down to Salem every once and awhile. First question would be....

Why in the hell would you want to move to Salem, Oregon?

Looking for a change from conservative Iowa. I've done the big city thing (Phoenix). So I was looking for something smaller, and I love the Pacific North West.

I'm not currently in Oregon but I do own property there and have spent a lot of time all over the state. Salem is pretty conservative but I doubt you'd have Polk County type problems. Have you thought about Eugene?

yeah it you want to stay liberal either Portland or Eugene are your best bets.

Eugene is a great town.

It's a college town with University of Oregon in it so there will be plenty of coeds to check out :) it's also very hippie and very liberal. Which is good if you like that kind of thing :)

Salem is ok, no more to the right then most cities on the I-5 Corridor. Salem is the state capital, have there share of adult business's, ie Strip Clubs, adult stores, etc. See in Oregon we are one of a few states in the US that our Supreme court has upheld for years and years that cities can't be really restrictive on adult business's, etc.

Eugene is great, a mini San Fran, very very liberal and near Salem and only 1 1/2 to 2 hrs from Portland. My oldest daughter goes to U OF O right now, her first year :)

Yeah stay away from salem. Portland has a small webmaster community. Just had a party last night.
