European BW is dirt cheap!
 

Seriously, did you guys know this?

Not only do some european hosting companies have dirt cheap (yes less than cogent!), they even have better networks. The reason they have cheap bw is because of good peering relationships there. Anyone here on a european host (UK)?

Didn't know that, but I'd like to get some virtual accounts on some servers located in Italy, the UK, netherlands and maybe Spain..

Definitely check some EU hosts. (go to WHT and search for them)

I actually ordered 2 big ass servers today. They will be online tomorrow - they will be fast and they will save me a load of $$$. :thumbsup

France = Dirtcheap (mostly free peerings, but good networks) :winkwink:

Germany = Dirtcheap, but sometimes strange TOS and Laws...

NL = Cheap and good.

Sweden = Hard to get, but worth it.

Austria, Switzerland = soon, most buy in Germany

UK = unsure, not the best references I've found.

Still looking into many more.

I wouldn't host porn in the UK..just my view though

Considering 80-90% of people buying porn are in the USA I feel its best to keep things in the USA, even if its on cogent its still going to be better than going all the way to Europe and back speed wise.

And when I say 80-90% I mean for paysites paying PPS. Most of Europe either doesn't have creditcards, is scared of using them or the billing companies CCbill & Epoch block most of them. Dunno but 80-90% of credit card orders on paysites which are the basis for PPS programs are still USA based. And any other ways of billing Europe usually =$2-5 once off per customer for the paysite owner nothing more. Other billing options suck plan and simple for Europe. Would be good to see that change.

Good to see bandwidth dropping elsewhere though, what can you get a 100mbit pipe for in Europe these days for?

You should try to get an european bank account without any credit card, nearly impossible these days!

Fully managed dedicated server, decent specs, and unmetered bandwith for under $300.

I dont think bandwidth is so expensive.

But, not true for US companies and webmasters. If you are US based, you must be 2257 compliant no matter where your server is located.

So incorperate in the EU (easy and cheap and great tax benefits for Foreigners).

umm I dunno why on earth you would think that? If you are US based it doesn't matter where you host, you are required to follow US laws.

Well there are no court precedents on that yet. Only time will tell.
