Official TheBestPorn and RabbitsReviews Reply on Guba

While we've understood for a while now that GUBA is badly perceived by many in our industry, we've been hesitant to refuse their business simply because they're a controversial site. We don't consider ourselves in a position to judge the legalities of this, and we attempt to stay impartial and not get too involved in making judgments when sites become popular or unpopular to do business with. We've operated under the understanding that GUBA provides an interface by which to find legal content, similar in a broad sense to any online directory service.

However, due to overwhelming feedback from our other business associates, and after much discussion between us about this issue, we have jointly decided to remove GUBA from our listings. While we certainly have our own views on the ethics involved in this, we want to clarify that this is strictly a business decision. Thanks.

This is the first of many to come. Guba is bad for the online adult business. period. The Best Porn and Rabbits jsut got mad more respect from content producers throughout the industry.

Relish XXX 02-21-2006 01:45 PM

What about other news group services that you advertise? Personally I like news groups as I enojy spamming the shit out of them each day and getting free traffic. I can fill up a news group before my morning cup of tea.

JFK 02-21-2006 01:45 PM

Thanks for the post Aly:thumbsup

FredIsMe 02-21-2006 01:45 PM

very interesting... to each their own

luv$ 02-21-2006 01:45 PM

What a delicate situation.

I think skinning GFY was one of the worst things they could have done (or the best, considering the lack of scruples in adult)

Time will only tell...

SmokeyTheBear 02-21-2006 01:46 PM

classy move.. good work , nothing bad about removing them , if guba fly's straight you can always put them back.. but stolen content runs guba.. if they simply complied with copyright owners in a timely fashion , they wouldnt have a product.

After Shock Media 02-21-2006 01:46 PM

one more domino falls.

jade12 02-21-2006 01:47 PM

I think this is GREAT news and just saw it posted on another board too!

Rui 02-21-2006 01:49 PM

Lets see who has the balls to come up with similar statements!

MaDalton 02-21-2006 01:49 PM

We'll remove others too, but might need help finding them since we list over 9000 sites! We don't plan on operating under double-standards. ;)

Theo 02-21-2006 01:54 PM

much respect from me over this action

Aly has spoken!

....and apparently in a way that many here happen to agree with.

Cheers!

baddog 02-21-2006 02:12 PM

I did not know TBP and Rabbit's worked in conjunction with each other, or is this just a mutual statement?

RyuLion 02-21-2006 02:15 PM

Wuho! More traffic for my, reviewed sites!

It's a mutual statement. We do have a very strong level of cooperation with Rabbit's Reviews and other review sites. Given that we were both specifically mentioned in an earlier thread we felt it appropriate to jointly respond.

chase 02-21-2006 02:20 PM

Totally off topic, but I'd love to have Mantas alone for a few hours, heh.

wdsguy 02-21-2006 02:23 PM

hmm interesting.

Reak AGV 02-21-2006 02:24 PM

That's great news Aly!!!!! :)

G-Rotica 02-21-2006 02:25 PM

If GUBA goes away, someone else will just replace them.

RawAlex 02-21-2006 02:27 PM

The next question will be:

Will the major TGPs and link sites agree to not list sites promoting Guba?

Remove the traffic... remove the income... remove the reason to stay in business.

Alex

Matt Collins 02-21-2006 02:28 PM

Very interesting statement Aly and I certainly understand the delicate situation you guys are in. However, the bottom line is always doing what's right for business.

Business is why we all work so hard (many work very hard creating original content) and I am glad that you heard a lot of feedback and more importantly, that you made the right business decision.

Maybe after a few drinks we can have a good debate on the merits of Guba...we have our best discussions late at night at trade shows!!

Matt

ddfGandalf 02-21-2006 02:30 PM

Nice business decision.

what are you talking about ? all he said was that he thought guba's money is OK and they are more than HAPPY to take guba's money BUT, appearantly many other people they do business with dont like guba and might not want to do business with them anymore because they think guba's money is more than OK

so in the end they remove guba not because they think guba is bad but because they are afraid they will lose business from other people that think guba is bad

They wont go away and I bet within the next 6 month a minimum of 2 more GUBA clones will appear. It is legal and it earns a shit load of money.

I said that in another thread. Let's STOP trading with sites that promote GUBA (I always have) and show we're not all scummy webmasters without morals or self-respect.

Pete-KT 02-21-2006 02:34 PM

Very nice move on your end

PussyTeenies 02-21-2006 03:01 PM

nice.. hope it doesnt start a flamewar

jacked 02-21-2006 03:06 PM

good to hear... the less webmasters supporting those thieves the better

Morgan 02-21-2006 03:07 PM

I REALLY appreciate that.

great stuff guys!

Ramos 02-21-2006 03:11 PM

and that's that.

TheLegacy 02-21-2006 03:16 PM

I realize how difficult yet important this decision is - someone had to make a stand for webmaster rights and set a standard for others to follow. I applaud you Aly and the folks at TheBestPorn for taking the lead in not wishing to associate yourself with the character of such companies.

I can only hope others see the wisdom that more respect and eventually advertising dollars are spent on companies / boards with integrity

Zarathustra 02-21-2006 03:19 PM

well respected business decision
