Ipod users inside please.

I'm sure most of you are satisfied with your Ipods but I need to know how many of you are happy enough to switch computers. Has the Ipod had the Halo Efffect on you and have you actully switched to a Mac computer.

I've used PC's for over ten years now and with the Intel technology now available in the Mac I wonder if it's time for the big change? :helpme

Let me know if you use a Mac or have switched since getting your Ipod and what are your opinions of the Mac vs. PC.

mackey 03-08-2006 01:02 PM

My Coworkers Ipod failed, my GF's IPOD failed, my sisters IPOD failed, my GF's sisters IPOD failed..

getting a mac? no.

Spoff 03-08-2006 01:04 PM

Ipod Nano / PC user Here

I think there are 2 reasons why I don't look at buying a MAC.

1- Price ($ per $ not a great investment for me)
2- Software (not enough choice IMHO)

I'm far from a Mac hater (used to run an office network of Mac's) I just don't see enough vaule in it for the $$$.

Jace 03-08-2006 01:05 PM

I have an ipod, and I never considered switching my computing platform

ipod=entertainment
computer=work

that is like asking Tivo users if using the Tivo has made them want to use Linux

Peaches 03-08-2006 01:06 PM

I've been using PCs since the PC Jr came out. I have an ipod but have absolutely zero desire to ever get a Mac.

Donny 03-08-2006 01:07 PM

The software issue raised in post #3 is really not accurate. I've never once had a problem finding software.

I switched from PCs to Macs a little over 18 months ago and there's no looking back.

Unless you've owned one, you really have no clue how nice it is.

I was one of the mac "haters" right up until I bought one for Belinda and started messing around with it myself. I've since purchased 7 of them.

Horny Dude 03-08-2006 01:09 PM

I have an Ipod and have no desire to get a Mac. They are way too much for what you get. Plus I love to tinker with my PC w/upgrades, I don't think you can do that with a Mac.

what software do you suggest for gallery submission? how about some sort of stats program like stats remote?

Jace 03-08-2006 01:13 PM

and before you think I am hating on mac, I have 2 of them...one imac and one ibook...i also have a pc laptop and a pc desktop

both are equally as good as each other IMO

my Ipod works pretty well under current PC setup.

not sure what's causing those errors on your end

PC is still the best computer in my current setup

Macs are for work, real work ..... ipods are gadgets/toys

WebairGerard 03-08-2006 02:08 PM

as cool as iPods are they are made like shit. I fix more friends and family iPod issues than you can imagine! I like other mp3 players better, that have better battery life, removable storage, acts as a hard drive to drag and drop songs (and files).

I have had my ipod for 2 years and the battery is yet to fail, and usually can last at least 6 hours of normal play, sometimes more

and I use it as a hard drive all the time, with more than songs....documents, images, etc

That's great. I have yet to see an iPod go that long without issues. Then again most of the one's I look at are owned by kids and probably not taken care as well as yours is. :)

I love my ipod, but your right.... it is made like shit...

first of all... the surface of these things scratch like a mofo just touching it with your finger. so you need to protect it...

not a ton of protection out there yet for the new ipods.... but the wife found one somewhere, the face of the case didnt have a cover over the actual screen, so i bought a package of "universal screen protectors" from....

http://www.fellowes.com

you can get em at best buy

adamneve 03-08-2006 02:44 PM

got an Ipod Mini and shuffle and don't think i'll switch to Mac soon

Raven 03-08-2006 03:04 PM

I have a 60 gig video iPod and I truly like it a lot.

I also have no desire to change to Mac. I have my own formula for my custom built pc and it's worked for seven generations of workstations...I'm satisfied.

Why are the two related?

Im a bit the same in that I am a LONG time PC user and normally pretty anti-mac. I bought an ipod video when they first came out as my first "mac" purchase and while I think it looks great, I would give it and Itunes about a 5/10 tops in terms of intuitiveness and functionality. I really like the look of the new ibooks, and if I could reliably install XP on one with the new intel chipset I would think about it, but for now I wouldnt go mac all the way. Am looking now at getting one of the dual core centrino notebooks - probably the Toshiba A7 or something similar.

OMG Jim 03-08-2006 03:04 PM

Based on what people say that have Mac's I think it might be time to at least go take a look. Everyone that has made the switch tells me they love the Mac.

I agree that the Ipod is probably not the most durable or best made mp3 because my son is on his third one in less than two years.

Good feedback. Thanks :thumbsup

Morgan 03-08-2006 03:07 PM

I use an iPod. but wont switch back to Mac for it. Works just fine with PC.

SZNY 03-08-2006 03:59 PM

I'm very happy with my Ipod combined with my PC. I even pimped my BMW with my Ipod. The best thing i've bought last year.

Tat2Jr 03-08-2006 04:04 PM

My Ipod (30GB Video) would never make me switch to mac. ever. Now if I was still forced to using 98 I'd probably be thinking about it, but since XP came out... I'm more then fine with my PC.

sounds more like a case of female operators than faulty equiptment

'So Fucking Money 03-08-2006 05:10 PM

I think people are afraid to try other mp3 players than the IPod. CES2006 award winner Creative Zen vision:M looks nice.

As far as a mac goes. Ive used both PC and Mac. I prefer PC. I dont like the way Macs are setup. Seems like PCs are more versitile.

Friends that have macs seem to think they are so easy but when they try and actually do something with it they still dont know what to do. They pretend to know computers now, but still are just n00bz. One nice thing about macs though is the new intel chip. I think that will actually sell more PC users, although I've heard some apple geeks getting angry and the merge.

Just my :2 cents:

Raven 03-08-2006 05:28 PM

I do agree that the screen on the iPod scratches quite easily. And, of course, it's not covered by warranty...but, so far, I've used and abused mine for a while now, especially since I fly so much and work out...at the gym....and with a cover on it, it does okay.

I completely agree with Donny's post. I used to be a strictly PC person and a mac 'hater'. I endede up purchasing an ibook for personal use and fell in love with them. Right now i have a new intel-based imac on order :thumbsup

RandomNinja 03-08-2006 06:03 PM

I own an iPod. It didn't make me want to switch to a mac, but I did get a mac mini. I use both PC and mac, and I like them both.

Vitasoy 03-08-2006 11:33 PM

Never crossed my mind at all about switching.

aico 03-09-2006 12:41 AM

I was would be worried for anyone who decided to buy a computer because of their iPod...

HP makes good printers, doesn't make me want to buy a HP Computer though...

You're complaining about the iPod's battery life? My 60GB iPod video lasts 20 hours while playing music. I can't remember the last time I was away from a PC or electrical outlet for that long. And your iPod also works as removable storage.

My iPod is the first Apple product I own, although I used Macs in school for years. Although I'm a PC girl myself, I've been considering getting a G5. My iPod has warmed me up to the idea even more, and now that they have Intel chips, I'll likely get one in the next few months.

Donny 03-09-2006 01:10 AM

By the way, there's no reason you have to do away with your PC software: just purchase Virtual PC and you then have both a Mac and a PC.

PussyTeenies 03-09-2006 02:10 AM

(pssssst... i'm not a ipod user... ssssst)

Red Ezra 03-09-2006 03:36 AM

I have been mac since the very beginning - never ever interested in pc - ever - mac all the way - yay mac - viva la mac
