Internet provider question for people living in Holland
 

I'm gonna move soon and need a new internet provider. There are so many options lately.

Can you recommend anything?

xs4all, they are one of the best

xs4all is good. But I'm very very happy with demon(also a quality provider)

You might also wanna check out www.tweakdsl.nl Also many good stories about them. Bad thing is, they sell only 2 year contracts...While demon and xs4all offer one year contracts.

On the 3 years that I have demon, I have NEVER been down(only normal maintenance, and you get emails a week upfront for this downtime)

The problem is you need a telephone line as well...is this the case with all providers?

xs4all, definitely. They're great for non-adult hosting, too. Very strong in privacy, and willing to go to court to prevent controversial websites hosted by them from being shut down.

I dont need a host.

For dsl, yes, for cable, no.

6MB is around 655KB/s at demon

And for all ADSL lines you need a phoneline. When you don't take one, you add 9,50 euro a month to the account.

For cable internet, you need a cable subscription.

You are in Amsterdam, so that means UPC, that is THE problem :D

be sure to get *dsl and stay away from cable.

XS4All is the best!
6Mbit/s on a basic adsl package. Very nice. I think the connection went only down once for a few minutes in about 3,5 years.

Nuffin yet, still checking...need to order something by next week
