WP error need some help

I currently have wordpress 2.0.2 installed on mulitple domains and have noticed that today out of no where the Visual Rich Text Editor is gone the HTML button on the WRITE POST page has been removed and the graphical icons for the buttons are gone and have been replaced with gray boxes with the name of the button in text... I haven't made any changes over the last few days.

What could have caused this to happen?

when i try and post straight html into the post box my posts come out all messed up, they use to come out fine when i would use the HTML button the box would open then i would paste my HTML into the box and it would format the post correctly rather than tearing apart my code...

i have already checked the wordpress support forum and it seems a lot of other people have had the same problem but no one seems to have a resoution

any insight on this problem would be appreciated

thanks
jacked

Had the same thing happen. I switched themes and switched back and it started working. Not sure if that did something or if it was a fluke.

nope didn't resolve the situation...

i tried re-uploading the directory where the files for the editor is /wp-includes/js/tinymce/

and it did nothing also

it was also recomended to me that i check my browser to see if JS is on which it is...

the weird thing is i have two servers with WP installed and on the one server the installations are fine the visual rich text editor works and all the buttons are there... but on my other box i'm having his issue with the editor disappearing so it has to be something other than my browser...

hmmm never had that happen

JD 04-04-2006 07:52 AM

why use the visual rich editor any way? it changes you code and sometimes fucks it up

because when i use straight html it tears my shit apart for some reason the visual text editor would convert the html correctly and everything would be formatted as i had it

fucking weird...

I would test using a desktop blogging client. If you are using Windows you can choose from w.bloggar/Qumana/Blogjet/Elicit. On the Mac side you can try Ecto.

yeah i figured i'd use that as a last resort i just don't understand why all of a sudden this feature had disappeared from my WP-admin

I turn off the visual rich editor it was known to crash FF. Is it possible that your host updated you to a new version of WP and your theme is not compliant with it? Just a guess...

nope i installed it myself didn't use any of that one click install crap...

i just hate having to re-figure this shit out i had my post template all setup and it was real easy to update everyday especially with the number of blogs i have to update daily....

just makes the day to day more a pain in the ass now

jacked 04-04-2006 09:02 AM

i've ripped apart the WP support forums and can't find shit on how to resolve this issue it seems like a lot of people had this happen to them it just disappearing out of nowhere they should make a fix for this...

jacked 04-04-2006 10:58 AM

*bump* still can't figure this shit out

jacked 04-05-2006 07:53 AM

a new day another bump

Scotty.T 04-05-2006 08:30 AM

i had similar 2 days ago. I lost the plain version not the visual rich and it just disappeared. I had to upload quicktags.js to the server again although it still showed on my server. That fixed it for me.

Scotty.T 04-05-2006 08:31 AM

although you have uploaded the tinymce directory again, have you checked that the options are still set correctly. Just an idea.

jacked 04-05-2006 09:04 AM

gonna try that out now scotty

Scotty.T 04-05-2006 09:15 AM

The only other thing I can think of is to upload /wp-admin/post.php again as well.

No possible solution

I read everywhere "I have the same problem" about this flop, but the solutions doesn't fix them, so, it's not the same at all.

But this time I have to say it, I have the same problem an it's neither a browser thing nor a hosting one.

I mean, I have two domains in the same free web hosting 'iFastNet', both are generated via WordPress, but the wired thing is that one of them loads perfectly the tinymce, and the other one have the same problem as yours.

I tried everything, installing plugins, editing the code lines, changing themes, downloading new versions of tinymce, searching all over the net, and for what I see here... I have to give up and start things all over again!

If you ever get to decipher this pain in the ass, please let me know. For now, thank's a lot, you helped me to 'take blame and resign'.
