I got Ripped off. Warning to others watch out - TRIXSCRIPTS.COM = BAD BUSINESS

Ok I have done business with Asher from TrixScripts.com a few times over the past few years.
So I ask him the other day, any cool scripts he has. He tells me about this JPG one he has, where i can encode anything I want into the jpg. Like make a popup come up, exit pop or anything.

So I thought that was pretty cool. I thought this was a pretty cool thing, so he says $500. I say allrite, this sounds pretty neat. Thought it was super unique and no one had it.. So I sent him the cash.

He then sends me the script. When it's not even a script... All it is is 1 line located in the jpg file. which is:

img src=pic1.jpg

HAH, then you can put whatever else you want in the file. like a popup script, exit pop script or whatever.

So basically I paid $500 for an img src= code......

So I'm flipping mad here, I mean $500, thats a simple JOKE, so I tell him. Common man this was a joke..

I mean whatever, $50 - ill still be a bit choked. But I can accept it.

But $500, thats simple rip off.

So I ask if he can reimburse some of the cash or give me some other scripts to make up for this ripoff.

He says NO.

So basically I know I won't get anything back from this Dude. So I'm warning anyone else to do not do business
with http://www.trixscripts.com. Or if you do watch out and be super careful.

He is very unprofesional in doing business. I mean all he has to do is say ok that was too much, here's a few free scripts
then i'll be happy with that.. and continue to do business with him in the future.

Instead he doesn't and loses my business forever, and probably alot more possible business as well
once people see how he does business.

Oh well, his loss. I'll take the $500 Loss, he'll have to deal with my future business & others who read this.

Good luck Mr. TrixScripts.com

Royaltee_Gee 05-11-2002 04:09 PM

It's not funny for ME.. Im out $500 ; (

But atleast I can help others and help them save there money.. if thats all I can do.. Then atleast I dont come out a loser..

he does :-)

dipshit moron retard 05-11-2002 04:12 PM

hey youre not the only one, i got ripped for $800 by the "brother" who runs kinkyamateurcontent.com
but he didnt bother to do anything creative, just ignores all forms of contact. least you got a comedian!

AdultWire 05-11-2002 04:14 PM

Maybe I'm just stupid but:

a) What did you buy (what did he say it did)

b) What did he give you (what does it do)

and finally

c) Did what he gave you do what he said it did?

-- If it did, he's right.. offerance & acceptance.. A plumber gets payed just for knowing where to hit the pipe with his hammer. If it didn't, well, get a refund.. plain and simp.

Royaltee_Gee 05-11-2002 04:15 PM

hehe... ya no doubt, his last words we're " i dont wanna do business with you again."

It's like don't worry buddy. I won't be... and I'm sure no one else will do business with ya in the future as well.

I gave him so many chances to, before going to the boards and allerting people...

Mr.Fiction 05-11-2002 04:15 PM

What was the script supposed to do? I'm curious.

Royaltee_Gee 05-11-2002 04:18 PM

he just said. you could add any code you wanted into a jpg. so i thought it was some cool shit.. me being a tech DUMMY..

so i buy it for $500 thinking its some new hot script..

when its not even a script..

its a .jpg file, with an img src in it......

so basically i paid $500 for an img src code...

that has to be the best deal ever made. eh?
hehe

Houdini 05-11-2002 04:19 PM

How did you send him the money? If you sent it by cc and if it was truly something that was different than what he said it was, contact your cc company and get a refund.

Royaltee_Gee 05-11-2002 04:19 PM

I mean fuck, if it was $50. I would have probably just said.. fuck your a dummy man and just laughed at it and went my ways..

but $500 is a pure SCAM/RIPOFF.

I feel dumb not understanding this but what exactly did this script do? Putting code in a jpg? I'm confused....

Pipecrew 05-11-2002 04:40 PM

Royaltee_Gee you tried to screw the surfer, so it serves you write, that 500 you got in order to buy this script was all made to screw the surfer.....

hlove 05-11-2002 04:43 PM

Hi there,

Did you ever tried contacting all those link exchange sites about his rip off? They will deleted his link, as well, post a warning about that site. That's what I did when some website claims all that kind of shit. It's one way to strike back, quietly....

Also, how did you give your 500$? Check? Cash? Credit card? Credit card is way easy, since you can call them that you have been charge by a frauder and the credit card company will look into it.. Check and cash, good luck. Those are hard to track down. You can also contact Western Union as well, since they do the credit card processing for that site.

Also, you can contact those sites he says he helped and see his claims. If his claims are falses, tell those webmasters that their good site have been used by a frauder! It's all here, TopCash.com, etc...

http://trixscripts.com/order.htm?

You can also contact the police or someone who deals with online fraud. If those codes are actually belongs to him, well, it's pretty, if they aren't, he will be in deep shit.

Well, that's all I can help with. Let me know if you need help with all this.

Why do you consider popping a console screwing the surfer?

Royaltee_Gee 05-11-2002 05:05 PM

I never tried screwing the surfer. I wanted this script to popop a page on my free site galleries.

Chris R 05-11-2002 05:28 PM

Royaltee_Gee,

You know you won't get anyone understanding on this board.

That sucks. I don't care what people say.

I think it is blatent fraud, but there's nothing you can do - except what you already have.

If it makes you feel better - I will sell you my scirpt that allows you to do the same thing with a .gif for $500. It is usually $1,000 - so you'll get your $500 back.

Ok - bad joke - sorry....

I bought a script from him - and it wasn't exactly what I expected. Luckily it wasn't anywhere near $500.

Oh - and in a US court there is no way that would hold up. The plumber analogy doesn't work. It would be no different than a plumber who was contacted and asked what he could do for your plumbling - and he says "well I could come over and flush your drains with dihydrogen monoxide."

He then comes over and turns on the tap water and charges you $500. If you think a judge would fall for that - you haven't been in front of the same judges I have. The only difference is most judges wouldn't know what img src is - while most webmasters do.

For some reason he didn't post Andy's most recent comments about him and his scripts. Look here:
http://trix.sexswap.com/swap235.htm

Andy Dunn's words from March 2002:

I want to get something out of the way here that is important. Lately I have been getting continuous complaints regarding an old sexswap contributor named "Asher". You old time readers will remember him as "Asher the Java Master". I have added a warning to the 15 sexswap newletters in which he contributed. Here is what that warning says:

WARNING
MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING ASHER AND TRIXSCRIPT.COM

Sexswap is not associated with TRIXSCRIPTS.COM . Trixscripts is a site owned by Asher aka Asher the Java Master. Asher was once a frequent contributor to SexSwap news from 1999-2001. He donated 10-15 scripts over a 2 year period. In return he got plugs for his site 'trixscripts'. In mid 2001, I started receiving complaints from friends and colleagues with regards to Asher's scripts and his business practices. Asher then sent in a script for the newsletter that a sexswap member decompiled, and inside was a type of trojan virus that advertised his sites. He argued that the script was an honest mistake. This was the beginning of the end. Since june of 2001, I have received numorous complaints regarding Asher and trixscripts. I have asked Asher to remove all links and references to sexswap on his site but he has refused to do so. I felt compelled to add this warning on the 10-15 issues in which he is mentioned. It seems that Asher has followed the path of Anakin Skywalker and turned to the dark side. I find this very disappointing since he had personally written me some excellent scripts in the early years.

Andy is the king!

jimmyf 05-11-2002 07:34 PM

I don't know if this guy knows how to do it or not.... But I do know it can be done.... Here's a little research I did about a year ago...

1. What exactly is a Web Bug?
*
A Web Bug is a graphics on a Web page or in an Email message that is designed to monitor who is reading
the Web page or Email message. Web Bugs are often invisible because they are typically only 1-by-1 pixel
in size. They are represented as HTML IMG tags. For example, here are two Web Bugs recently found on
Quicken's home page (www.quicken.com):
*
<img src="http://ad.doubleclick.net/ad/pixel.quicken/NEW" width=1 height=1 border=0>
*
<IMG WIDTH=1 HEIGHT=1 border=0
SRC="http://media.preferences.com/ping?ML_SD=IntuitTE_Intuit_1x1_RunOfSite_A
ny&db_afcr=4B31-C2FB-10E2C&event=reghome&group=register&time=1999.10.27 .20.5 6.37">
*
The two Web Bugs were placed on the home page by Quicken to provide "hit" information about visitors to
DoubleClick and MatchLogic (AKA, preferences.com), two Internet advertising companies.
*
2. Why are Web Bugs invisible on a page?
*
To hide the fact that monitoring is taking place.
*
3. Are Web Bugs always invisible on a page?
*
Not necessarily. Any graphics on a Web page that is used for monitoring purposes can be considered a
Web Bug.

4. Are all invisible GIF images, Web Bugs?
*
No. Invisible GIF files are also used for alignment purposes on Web pages. A Web Bug will typically be
loaded from a different Web server than the rest of the page, so they are easy to distinguish from
alignment GIF files.
*
5. What other names are Web Bugs known by?
*
The Internet advertising community prefers the more sanitized term "clear GIF". Web Bugs are also
known as "1-by-1 GIFs" and "invisible GIFs".
*
6. What information is sent to a server when a Web Bug is viewed?
*
The IP address of the computer that fetched the Web Bug
The URL of the page that the Web Bug is located on
The URL of the Web Bug image
The time the Web Bug was viewed
The type of browser that fetched the Web Bug image
A previously set cookie value
*
7. What are some of the uses of a Web Bug on a Web page?
*
Ad networks can use Web Bugs to add information to a personal profile of what sites a person is visiting.
The personal profile is identified by the browser cookie of an ad network. At some later time, this personal
profile which is stored in a data base server belonging to the ad network, determines what banner ad one
is shown.
*
Another use of Web Bugs is to provide an independent accounting of how many people have visited a
particular Web site.
*
Web Bugs are also used to gather statistics about Web browser usage at different places on the Internet.
*
8. Where can I find Web Bugs being used?
*
Quicken
FedEx
Metamucil
Oil of Olay
StatMarket
*
9. How can I see a Web Bug on a page?
*
A Web Bug can be found by viewing the HTML source code of a Web page and searching for IMG tags. A
Web Bug will typically have its HEIGHT and WIDTH parameters in the IMG tag set to 1. Also for the tag
to be a bug, the image should be loaded from a different server then the rest of the Web page.
*
Web Bugs in Email Messages
*
10. What kinds of uses does a Web Bug have in an Email message?
*
1.A Web Bug can be used to find out if a particular Email message has been read by someone and if so,
when the message was read.
2.A Web Bug can provide the IP address of the recipient if the recipient is attempt to remain anonymous.
3.Within an organization, A Web Bug can give an idea how often a message is being forwarded and read.
*
11. Why are Web Bugs used in "junk" Email messages?
*
1.To measure how many people have viewed the same Email message in a marketing campaign.
2.To detect if someone is viewed a junk Email message or not. People who do not view a message are
removed from the list for future mailings.
3.To synchronize a Web browser cookie to a particular Email address. This trick allows a Web site to know
the identity of people who come to the site at a later date,
*
12. What are some of the Email marketing companies who are known to use Web Bugs?
*
Exactis
Digital Impact
Responsys
*
13. What companies have used Web Bugs in Email marketing campaigns?

Barnes and Noble
eToys
Cooking.com
Microsoft
InfoBeat
*
14. What do Web Bugs in Email messages look lile?
*
Email Web Bugs are represented as 1-by-1 pixel IMG tags just like Web Bugs for Web pages. However,
because the sender of the message already knows your Email address, they also include the Email address
in the Web Bug URL. The Email address can be in plain text or encrypted. For example, here are two Web
Bugs sent to me in junk Email messages:
*
<img width='1' height='1' src="http://www.m0.net/m/logopen02.asp?
vid=3&catid=370153037&email=SMITHS%40tiac.net" alt=" ">
*
<IMG SRC="http://email.bn.com/cgi-bin/flosensing?x=ABYoAEhouX">
*
Advanced topics
*
15. Is there any method of removing Web Bugs from HTML pages?
*
Not really. The technical problem is that there is no method of distinguishing Web Bugs from spacer GIFs
which are used on Web pages for aligment purposes. Your best defense against Web Bugs is to turn off
cookies. Instructions for turning off cookies can be found at the Junkbusters Web site:
*
http://www.junkbusters.com/ht/en/cookies.html#disable
*
One note about cookies. Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer will still send out existing cookies after
disabling cookies in the browser. You must manually delete any cookie files on your hard drive to eliminate
being tracked by third-party ad networks.
*
16. Why don't Web site privacy policies ever mention Web Bugs?
*
Good question. Clearly Web site privacy policies need to disclose the use of Web Bugs as a minimum. Also
the general practice of online profiling by third-party ad networks should be talked about in privacy policies.
However, this important topic is rarely mentioned.
*
17. Are the use of Web Bugs legal?
*
A complicated question that is best answered by a lawyer.
*
18. Are the use of Web Bugs unethical?
*
Clearly Web Bugs are controversial. Because they allow people to be monitored, when they don't expect it,
they certainly can be very upsetting. For example, most people will likely be troubled to learn that an
outsider is tracking when they read Email.
*
19. Can newsgroup messages be bugged also?
*
Yes. If someone is using Outlook Express or Netscape Messenger to read a newsgroup, then Web Bugs
will also work inside of HTML newsgroup messages. A Web Bug can be used to log people who are reading
messages in particular newsgroup. Such bugs might be used for example by investigators to track illegal
activity such as trading in child pornography and copyrighted MP3 music files. Web Bugs might also be
used to monitor people in extreme political groups.

20. Can Yahoo profiles be bugged?
*
Yes. For a demonstration of a bugged Yahoo profile, see:
*
http://profiles.yahoo.com/webbug2000

Wow, this case is getitng larger and larger. My best bet is to fight fire with fire, anyone can hacks his site, send huge files to his e-mails, even getting the hosting server to drop his site down! Use his e-mails and sign up to crap loads of junk mail list! Anything to trash him! Send viruses, killer viruses! Get the picture! :)

Q:Will you ever figure alone how to do it?
A:Never

Q:Could you find this info for free?
A:Probably not

Q:Have you seen this "script" around frequently?
A:Nope

i don't know who runs Trixscripts or what he sells, but I don't see a fraud. If I message one good graphic designer to make me a cool logo for one of my sites he can do it within 10min while i won't be able to do in a month since i suck on graphics. Does this mean that I'll do wrong if I pay him?

You wanted a script that do an X thing, you paid for it and you got it. Simple as that

I don't know this guy either. However, a number of people have reported that he is secretly putting viruses or traffic redirection mechanisms in scripts that they buy from him. You don't think that's fraud?

Imagine I sell you a TGP script and I secretly have the script steal half of your traffic and send it to me, after you paid for it.

If that's actually going on, it seems wrong. Maybe it's just me.

as much as you may want to make excuses for scamming people such as 'he got exactly what he asked for' you know that's bullshit. just because its technology someone doesn't understand doesnt mean inflating the value beyond any reasonable measure is ok. what if trixiescripts had charged him $500 for a donut because he had never seen one before, would you go 'hey he said you were going to get a donut, its your fault you didn't know it was worth 25 cents!' and he didn't even get what he paid for anyway, which was adding code into a JPG file, not into an html file with a .jpg extention. would it be ok if cologroup was charging $50 per KB just because you were willing to pay it? this is like the 'free house painting' scam, where some group of morons offer to paint your house for free and you just pay for the paint, then they use like 150 cans. hey you got what you paid for, the house looks great doesnt it? it seems like all the people with half a clue are taking adult webmasters for a ride by the bus full.

Hypo 05-12-2002 03:16 AM

Well yeah, the script doesnt exactly encode the code into the jpg file..
