England World Cup squad announced

Who is Theo Walcott again?

Goalkeepers:

Paul Robinson
David James
Robert Green

Defenders:

Gary Neville
Rio Ferdinand
John Terry
Ashley Cole
Sol Campbell
Jamie Carragher
Wayne Bridge

Midfielders:

David Beckham
Michael Carrick
Frank Lampard
Steven Gerrard
Owen Hargreaves
Jermaine Jenas
Stewart Downing
Joe Cole
Aaron Lennon

Forwards:

Wayne Rooney
Michael Owen
Peter Crouch
Theo Walcott

Standby Players:

Scott Carson
Luke Young
Nigel Reo-Coker
Jermain Defoe
Andrew Johnson

Verbal 05-08-2006 07:12 AM

where's Wright-Phillips????

Ross 05-08-2006 07:13 AM

WOW!! Theo Walcott is in instead of Jermaine Defoe!? Thats pretty fucked up. The kid is just out of nappies! Guys like Marlon Harewood and Bobby Zamora of West Ham deserve a place more than Walcott does.

Sarah_Jayne 05-08-2006 07:15 AM

somebody on the radio just said it was the two unknowns and a cripple upfront..lol

jpwhits 05-08-2006 07:16 AM

Aaron Lennon deserves it more than Wright-Phillips due to week in and week out football. Johnson should be out for Bent. Hargreaves should be out for Ledley King. Jenas could be sacrificed for Wright Phillips as hes not really an England player yet.

Ross 05-08-2006 07:17 AM

I'm gonna predict the team for the opening game...

In goal: Paul Robinson
Right back: Gary Neville Left Back: Ashley Cole: Centre Halves: Rio Ferdinand and John Terry
Right Mid: David Beckham Left Mid: Joe Cole Central Mid: Stevie Gerrard and Frank Lampard
Strikers: Michael Owen and Peter Crouch

Its got to be the team, Rooney is gonna be injured and the rest of them team basically picks itself.

If Owen isnt fit Joe Cole can play the Rooney role and Downing can take the left side as a natural left footer. That would personally be my team for the first game to test the system.

GuerillaTony 05-08-2006 07:19 AM

Good looking line up ! lets hope they play up to the ability of the squad :thumbsup

Yep you're right Downing is a great player tho, his accuracy of crossing is equal to Beckham. Imagine having both of them on the wings and Crouch in the middle? Shit, just hit it to his head and no one else could get near it.

not good enough for arsenal but good enough for england? ehhh

the 17-year-old has yet to play for Arsenal since moving to highbury from southampton in a high-profile transfer at the start of the year...

MaDalton 05-08-2006 07:27 AM

has the person already been chosen who is supposed to fail in the penalities against Germany? :Graucho

Henri? who's going to play anyone but him.

you mean henry I suppose.. there are lots of games during a season.. walcott might be a speedy fucker.. but he is 17, hasn't played a minute for arsenal and this is the world cup... what on earth makes him a natural choice?

G Dida
D Cafu
D Lúcio
D Roque Júnior
D Roberto Carlos
M Emerson
M Zé Roberto
M Kaká

I use that song as my guide to how much more I have come to understand British culture. I moved here the week of Euro '96 so that song was everywhere and I didn't get any of the references. Now, I understand all of them and can probably hold a conversation about them individually.

gangbangjoe 05-08-2006 02:32 PM

why is it that englands goalkeepers suck all the time ?

and i can only cry when looking at brazils team...
they will own us soooo hard

Scott McD 05-08-2006 04:15 PM

Looks like Sven is gonna do his best to fuck things up. :winkwink:

For me, he looks like a man who doesn't really care about what happens over this summer. He knows he is away anyway.

England find themselves in a strange position...

He isn't going to want to fuck up too much. Afterall, chances are he will want to coach somewhere else.

BlueDesignStudios 05-09-2006 04:29 AM

Australia's at the world cup too.. we're just making a guest appearance for a few games though, a bit of warm up practise for Brazil :)
