Who do you trust for domain portfolio appraisals?
For the people here workign today, do you have a place you trust for accurate appraisals?
I was thinking about like Sedo and Tdnam, but the appraisals they do seem to be too volatile like they're done by several different people and based MORE on opinion and not so much on facts & research. Thoughts? |
sedo gave me a 10,000$ appraisal on: ineedbeer.com
i think its about accurate |

Do you really think it's worth that figure? |
some domains appraisals can be made to be accurate.
on domains with traffic they can be appraised domains like ineedbeer.com, are worthless until have traffic or a need investors will bank on popular domains words in desired markets and pay big otherwise they are pretty worthless |
The whole appraisal system is filled with too many variables and based on a lot of guessing. Sedo has a wealth of information available based on what end-users have paid for domains. You could probably do a better job doing your own appraisal with a little research of previous sales at SEDO/Afternic/GreatDomains, to see what names that might be similiar to yours have sold for.
Purchasing an appraisal by a Rep has never worked well for me. You might as well just start with www.leapfish.com and then adjust accordingly, if you're going to buy one from Sedo or other. |

There are no facts or research that will give you a good appraisal. Appraisals are guesses and they don't mean anything. Now, if someone offers you money for a domain name, then you have a value to at least start with. |
Thank you for the input fellas - still going with your advice Brujah inasfar as our ICQ convo but this is something I was thinking about today when I saw the WIDE range of #'s on Sedo & TDNAM appraisals
