even if its a business that has pissed me off a dozen times (like mcdonalds ), i still do it because the person running the register is generally responsible for paying the loss out of their pocket.. not cool to steal period, and definitely not from people who are working to make ends' meat in fast food et al. |
give back
|
it is not nice to keep the extra money...i give it back!
|
I also give back..I worked behing a counter as a teenager and know it can happen but even before then when it happened I always gave it back.
|
give it back.
i try to treat people like i would like to be treated by them... i works most of the time but sometimes egoism strikes me. but i always give the money back. On Monday i was buying an external harddrive and the person running the register gave me 50euros too much back... i gave it back to her and she was damn happy :) she was kinda cute too |
Give back.

I never count it, I just take the change and throw it in the bag, I don't have time to count cents and dollars so I wouldn't know if they overpaid or underpaid me. I usually just want to get out of the store as fast as possible. I don't think I ever actually count what they gave me, I'm too lazy and don't really care...

I do return the money if it's obvious though, and it has happened a few times. Like I pay with a 50e bill, and get 3 20e bills back or something silly. |
Oh it's a more specific description of what kind of person i am.
I was just going to say: "I'm an arse". |
GIve it back

I hope that is not the way things are in the USA and I can tell you that that would NEVER EVER happen in Denmark. Employees actually have rights here. |
I dont check most of the time, but if I notice I give back.

The one and only time I have been fired in my life was working for CVS drug store after over a year of service when I was 17. My register was $20 OVER at the end of the day and they fired me for that. |
I give it back.
|
What kind of stores are some of you guys are shopping at?:1orglaugh
Every cashier I deal with does two counts, once when it comes out of the register and again as they had it to you, counting aloud from smallest denomination up. The register screen shows exactly how much I should be getting back and I just silently count along with them as they give it to me. Then I just shove it into my pocket and assume we were all correct:upsidedow |

Yep that's what they here too. I don't count along though cause I'm too lazy and terrible in math. I just assume they count right, and then I throw the money in the bag. I'm always in a hurry... Sometimes I'm too tired to put change back in my wallet so I just throw it in the bag. If im lazy to put it in my wallet I'm not going to have the energy to count along. |
Give back.

Give it back

The one time i never gave it back, was about a year ago at the bookmakers. I was due around £45 in winnings, but the woman paid me £170 for some reason. I took it, and left the shop. Kinda felt bad about it, but when i asked someone, they said it wouldn't come out of her pocket, but the shop itself...
|
you should made this an anoynomous poll, noone will openly admit to "steal" 5 bucks ;-)

Come on guys..... Tell us the true!!:1orglaugh

i always give it back unless i don't check and notice that i have too much change by the time im already home or something. i mean im not going to drive back and give them the money for there mistake. but if i notice when i get my change i always give it back.
|
I seldom count the change unless its a substantial amount.
As for minimum wage clerks having to pay shortages at the end of the shift, I have issues about that. Years ago I worked a midnight shift at a local gas bar - and for a while the station owner tried making it policy that employees had to pay any shortages in the till from their own pocket. "Fine," I said. "But I want the dividends whenever the cash drawer is over-balance at the end of the night." Naturally he wasn't willing to do that. I rallied the rest of the employees and we all told him the same thing. After a while he relented and didn't try enforcing employees to pay shortages. Unless its a large amount (or happens on a consistent basis) - I can't imagine a company being so cheap and petty that they'd try and force people to pay out-of-pocket. |
Usually I give the money back, but a couple of times I kept it because the person behind the counter pissed me off.
AT LEAST I AM HONEST :winkwink: |
as what most people here will do..i normally give back the extra.
|
I keep it. Ain't my fault Cash Register Braniac can't count for shit.
|
fuck that, you fuck up, your lose, my gain
i love getting over paid, assholes should learn math and pay attention, not my fault they work a shit job like that |
I think that I am an honest person, but it would all depend on the persons attitude behind the counter. :thumbsup
|
I never even count it...
|
I would give it back of course.
:2 cents: |
of course give it back
|
i would definitely give it back.
i'm a nice person like that. :) |
i'll give it back;)
|
always give it back
|
give the extra back... I have enough troubles to deal with. I don't need the bad karma of doing something petty like keeping extra change.
|
I give it back. many times I get the wrong amount when dealing w/ drunk ppl at my bar and I always give it back. Karma is a bitch and I don't want her biting my ass! :)
|
I always give it back. Most times they look surprised when I do which makes me wonder how many actually return it.
