Phantom Frog VS. Strongboxxx - Feedback Anyone?

Anyone know much about these 2 products? Is either more effective or have a better feature set than the other? I like the way Phantom Frog uses geo IP tracking to monitor/block abused accounts. Seems like that would be very effective. If anyone knows much about these 2 products your feedback would be appreciated!

Phantom Frog. Neither had I until today but it looks like a good option. Was hoping to get some feedback on it before contacting the vendor.

Jace 06-20-2006 05:52 PM

strongboxxx, there is NO question

I had it installed in March and have not touched it or worried about a stolen password since

Shoehorn! 06-20-2006 06:02 PM

Strongbox kicks ass and Ray is great. They get my vote. :thumbsup

Jake 06-20-2006 06:45 PM

I hadn't heard for http://phantomfrog.com until this thread. I use Sparta and everything is great so far.

FelixFlow 06-21-2006 08:40 AM

hmmmm, that "phantom frog' looks interesting....anyone tried it?

its true, that with strongbox users can share and "fly under the radar"

gooddomains 06-21-2006 08:50 AM

interesting, never heard of phantom frog before

chase 06-21-2006 09:02 AM

I believe Adam and Alysha use it..there have been several discussions about it, all very positive, over on the AM board, and the people who run PF post there occassionally, too.

_seems lots of amateurs, to whom every dollar usually counts, use it.

justsexxx 06-21-2006 09:18 AM

Don't know that frog one...Looks good, but not sure IF it's good :) I use sparta myself..

justsexxx 06-21-2006 09:20 AM

Once password abuse has been detected, Phantom Frog immediatly issues a new password. (Premium Plan)

Note that the account is not blocked.
The valid member may use the new password but all others are locked out

That is a good feature in the FROG one...

Why 06-21-2006 10:20 AM

strongbox is not everything some not so technically minded might think it is. as stated above, there are still ways to work around it.

on the frog subject i dont know anything about the product.

It seems to have some "customer support" features not available with StrongBoxxx however since I haven't used either product I'm not sure that's the case. Still hoping to hear from someone who is actually using Phantom Frog.

Bumping again!

We have been with Phantom Frog for some time now, and if you want to stop the password trading at the very first sign of abuse, then I would strongly suggest you use them.

Most other systems use an IP threshold, so if that threshold is 10 IPs, and the first 9 people each download 5 gigs, then you just lost 45 gigs before your system shuts it down.

Phantom Frog watches where each user logs in from and tracks it. So, if a user logs in from New York at 10 AM EST, then from Los Angeles at 11 AM EST, it knows a person can't travel that fast and blocks the login. It doesn't need to wait for 5, 10, 20 IPs to access before it's shut down.

And, as a bonus, you don't even need do anything to get your REAL member their new password. The Frog uses a password lookup system that works with CCBill and Netbilling (maybe others) and will automatically issue the real member a new password without you having to do it manually.

Does any other password system do that?

Like I said, "CCBill and Netbilling (maybe others)". I don't use anything else, so I don't know. I'm sure contacting them will get you an answer, though.

avalanche 08-21-2006 03:12 PM
