But seriously, I was rollin down the highway the other day with my window down and this bike roared past me sounding like a damn fighter jet! I think it damaged my ear drums. I felt this sharp pain in my ears and I was forced to cover my left ear with my hand. Other times they've interrupted my cell phone conversations.

3 questions:

Why are they so loud?

Is it cool to have a bike that meausures over 130 db?

Do you wear ear protection while riding?

Just curious...because I don't know jack about bikes, but I get the impression that bikers get a kick out riding a loud ass bike.

Yeah, bikers like loud pipes so they don't get run into as much. You said it yourself, you heard him cause he was loud and that got your attention otherwise people would be changing lanes and hittig them more often.
