Never sleep for 6+ hours again... Polyphasic sleep lets you nap for 20min instead...

Polyphasic sleep involves taking multiple short sleep periods throughout the day instead of getting all your sleep in one long chunk. A popular form of polyphasic sleep, the Uberman sleep schedule, suggests that you sleep 20-30 minutes six times per day, with equally spaced naps every 4 hours around the clock. This means you?re only sleeping 2-3 hours per day.

It sounds like a winner for adult webmasters. Would you try this?

Tdog 06-24-2006 05:33 PM

Sounds like alot of work to schedule that all day.

quiet 06-24-2006 05:36 PM

sounds like a pain in the ass.

Yeah - it takes me all of 2.5 seconds to set my phone alarm and close my eyes.

*wipes sweat from brow*

bobbyjuly 06-24-2006 05:42 PM

this might work for a hard working scientist but for an adult webmaster it would not be doable. lol

Based on what I've seen, adult webmasters would be perfect for this. Why do you think it would be harder for self employed webmasters?

Spunky 06-24-2006 05:46 PM

I would be a happy person if I could get atleast 6 hours per night

I usually sleep for less than 5 hours for every 30+ hour stretch. I actually feel more refreshed, energetic & focused this way...

Or you can try using http://Provigil.com :winkwink:

hova 06-24-2006 06:01 PM

gecko 06-24-2006 06:04 PM

biftek 06-24-2006 06:16 PM

Juilan 06-24-2006 06:22 PM

Power naps do work for me, sometimes even just pulling over and relaxing with my eyes closed for 10 mins (not actually sleeping) gives me a fresh burst. I always take a bit of extra time to find a quiet backroad where there's almost nil traffic. :)

The OP wasn't talking about power napping though, rather a shift in your sleep cycle so that your brain becomes used to shorter sleeps with more overall waking time in 24 hours. Sounds great but how do you live in the real world when you're feeling tired 3 hours after you nap, and need to sleep after 4? You'd have a hard time having a social life, or interacting with family... let alone trying to do a 9-5 job!

It's proven that your body only needs a minimal amount of sleep.
Ultra-Marathon runner's are known to sleep run/run for days w/out sleep.

So if you body doesn't shut off when your active...then what use is sleeping, really. Our consciousness is able to handle a lot more than when we needed a lot of sleep.

rowan 06-24-2006 06:46 PM

We'll be building a new house soon... perhaps I should make one of the bedrooms a padded accoustic cell (I have a kid) and try this. :Graucho

Alex 06-24-2006 06:51 PM

I read this in The Game by Neil Strauss.

minusonebit 06-24-2006 06:56 PM

Fuck this. I like my sleep.

marketsmart 06-24-2006 06:56 PM

i bet its not easy when you first start out on this program...

teg0 06-24-2006 06:58 PM

I can't do shit like that. If I fall asleep when its light out and wake up when its light out it fucks me up and i'm more tired than when i started.

tical 06-24-2006 07:06 PM

i could see quality of life going down the shitter doing something like that

"Steve Fossett, while flying non-stop around the world used 5 min. powernaps in regular intervals around the clock"

lol, that's too trippy... regularly sleeping while you're the sole pilot of an airborne craft!

soulbleed 06-24-2006 07:28 PM

go to bed

jono 06-24-2006 07:32 PM

I just wish I was a vampire! I could do with staying up all night & day at the moment!!

Wiggles 06-24-2006 07:43 PM

no, it isn't, nothing can replace your good 8 hours night sleep, all this bullshit is meant to be used only in extreme situations and not in your 'normal everyday' life

not to mention that you'll be 10 times less productive and you'll get less than while sleeping less

Vitasoy 06-24-2006 09:34 PM

I need atleast 8 hours of sleep, don't think I can handle it

wyldblyss 06-24-2006 09:40 PM

When people are over tired they make more mistakes and they do not accomplish as much as when they are refreshed. I go to sleep when I am tired and get up when I"m no longer tired. Sometimes that is 3 hours, sometimes 5 and once in a blue moon 7. I don't keep to a set schedule, I know my limits and when I have reached them, I sleep

BIGTYMER 06-24-2006 10:28 PM

No thanks.

gooddomains 06-24-2006 10:53 PM

power napping is an old thing
