Its been around for years and years, only really getting the official label a couple years ago. I don't really see it go anywhere anytime soon.

"Emo" is trendy just like "Grunge" was in the 90's except unlike Grunge, Emo music sucks really badly and requires no talent in areas of singing or playing instruments.

It's a more modern and phony whiny version or the true hardcore depression the old grunge was all about. See Nirvana... Alice and chains.. They were truely depressed! It's all the rain here...

Emo tends to be less wholehearted about whining than more proper Gothic whining. The emo crowd always falls back on the I-was-only-faking-in-an-ironic-way excuse when called on it and I find that really extra super-duper lame and insufferable.
