Bad spellurs...UNTIE!
There is another post floating around here about people who speak broken English. That's what got me thinking about people who speak English as their native language. Sometimes, those who speak another language write English better than those who speak it natively. For example the whole your/you're thing. That drives me insane. I love to see someone type "your an idiot". If that doesn't strike you as funny, stop reading now. Anyway, have a look at the Erotica Cash banner here at GFY. It says something like blah blah blah "....then your looking for us!". Jesus Christ. How can anyone take them seriously with a banner like that?!?!? I can go on all day with examples of stupid shit I see every day (like, that damned Russian took there money). I understand that shit happening in posts here at GFY, but I see a TON of sites out there with very stupid spelling mistakes. It really makes you look unprofessional.
Anyway, how did people get through school like that? I could not have made it past 3rd grade unless I demonstrated the ability to use words correctly. There is no way someone could graduate high school with such shitty writing skills. If I were to use the word "your" incorrectly in an essay in high school, I would have been the proud recipient of an F. It seems that most people my own age (27ish) possess strong writing skills, but the younger generations just don't seem to understand homonyms. Don't get me wrong, I am not ripping on anyone. I'd just like to point out that if you're going to make fun of someone who doesn't speak English as well as you do, make sure you have mastered the language yourself. I haven't mastered it and I minored in English. Once you master it, your welcome to make fun of there English skillz, but not untill. :winkwink: |
You're an idiot.

my pet peeve is " I could give a fuck", or "I could give a rat's ass" which is the opposite of what they're trying to say and I see it about 20 times more often than the correct "I couldn't give a fuck"...

It's a message board not an essay test so people are more likely to just press submit instead of going over their grammar in each post.

i used to get in fights with my english teachers. anal-retentive, nit-picking cows. my downfall is and always will be sentence structure.

As we're on the subject:
It's "aluminium", not "aluminum"... :winkwink: |
What I find funniest is when people use a common expression but mangle it to hell, showing that they really have no idea what the expression means.
Two recent examples I've come across, in one particular forum I visit: "I'll just have to take that with a grain assault." and "Granite I don't know much about it, but..." The "grain assault" one had me just about falling out of my chair, and then another member of the forum posted a picture of a tractor with a cannon mounted on top with the caption "The infamous GRAIN ASSAULT!" and that about did it for me, lol. :1orglaugh Jak |
We all make mistakes and many have English as a second language (I'm not explaining the sig a second time) so I tend to live and let live unless they're idiot fucking virus writers trying to infect PC's in much of the English speaking world. Shit English on a board is one thing - getting it many times a day in my mail box is going too far.
But then maybe that's just the pot shouting at the kettle that he needs to wash. ;) |
Dyslexics untie! Bwahahaha!
