Google Checkout + Adult Sales Reply

Well today google has unleased their check out software for making selling products much easier. Think paypal but a bit differnt. We all know at one time paypal used to talk adult transations and always wondered what google would do in this case, well I got an official reply from google team about selling adult content/memberships etc.

----------

Thank you for your email.

At this time, our policies do not allow the sale of adult goods through
Google Checkout. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Please know that Google believes strongly in freedom of expression and
therefore offers broad access to content across the web without censoring
search results. At the same time, we reserve the right to exercise
editorial discretion when it comes to the types of products that can be
sold using Google Checkout, as noted in our program Terms and Conditions.

When we develop our program policies, we focus on providing a positive
user experience while adhering to various legal considerations. Our goal
is to create fair, consistent, and adaptable policies.

In addition, we review and update our policies regularly to ensure their
effectiveness. For more information on our content policies, visit

We appreciate your interest and your feedback, which we'll take into
consideration as we continue enhancing our program in the future.

Sincerely,

The Google Checkout Support Team

I'm definitly gonna get an account over there. I'm sure they won't mind webmaster to webmaster transactions like paypal do.

gotta keep shareholders happy, and the last thing investors want to hear is that their brand new product is marred with the "stigma" of adult from the bat. can see the headlines now, NY Post "Google makes buying Porn Easier - Do No Evil?"

That's a pretty well worded reply on Google's part, props to the copywriter.

scottybuzz 06-29-2006 06:50 PM

yeh i like whoever wrote that, instead of sticking your noses up at adult and telling us to fuck of, they have put it nicely and you begin to understand.

pornguy 06-29-2006 06:52 PM

Maybe if they get more requests they will work something out.
