i will only say this... i admire them for being 100% behind their troops... they are bombing a country for kidnapping one of their own... i have always felt that part of being a productive, tax paying citizen is that when another country tries to pull some shit, your country has your back... :2 cents:

I'll never forget how Palestinians celebrated in the streets when they heard about the 9/11 attacks. Palestine is being ruled by a political party with a military wing that throughout over the years has claimed responsibility for terrorist acts, the killing of civilians, suicide bombers, etc. They also claimed responsibility for the latest kidnappings. They did it for leverage to release all Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

The way I see it.. palestine threw a pebble, and israel threw a big ass rock back.

Good question... there are some really hot Jewish girls in general, but the ones from Israel tend to be extra hot. I have also met some very hot Palestinian girls, one in particular who was also super intelligent.

I imagine Israelis and Palestinians would all be very happy if it were that simple. But the reality is that the violence there has been going on since before the state was founded in 1948. Despite more than 3 Palestinians being killed for every Israeli death and a whole raft of collective punishments that the Israelis use, there is no end in sight.

Many Israelis still believe an iron fist will eventually force the Palestinians to make peace. Others think peace will never happen, so they see these responses as revenge/punishment. But there are also many who believe the only chance they have for a normal life is if someone is willing to stop the cycle of violence.

I lived there for 10 years and I don't have a clue who is right, only that the picture is nowhere near as clear cut as it can appear from the outside.

It's a remarkable phenomenon. I see huge similarities between you and a Jehovah's witness I know, in terms of your unwillingness to acknowledge reality, even though the evidence is there for you to see and is irrefutable.

My JW friend refuses to accept that the world is any older than 6000 years despite all the evidence to the contrary, and you refuse to accept that Israel is the good guy even in the face of extreme provocation from the 'Palestinians'. a debate is when two people discuss and sometimes argue their points in an effort to sway one side to the others opinion or to make a stronger point. questioning a persons intelligence level or personally attacking them shows me that a person is unable to have an intelligent debate or isnt capable of having an open mind.... :2 cents:

Oddly if there was a balance of nations on this board - suspect they will have a broader view of both Israel and the world in general instead of cliched "they are evil" - "they are friends".

Ummm... that is a particularly one-sided view of the situation. But letting that slide, I'm not sure it is even relevant any more who is wearing the white hat and who the black.

However it came about, you have around a million (Palestinian) Arabs living in Israel, where they are second-class citizens; 3½ million or so living in fairly serious poverty in the West Bank and Gaza; and about 4 million more Palestinians in other Arab countries where they are more or less unwelcome (in Lebanon many have been living in refugee camps for 40 years). And unfortunately people in this world rarely do the right thing so let's not kid ourselves: no-one would be sparing any of those 8+ million people a second thought if some of them hadn't resorted to violence.

That doesn't make them right and it doesn't mean Israel is wrong for not immediately doing what they want. But in terms of anyone out there having a normal life, it makes the question of who was right and wrong 50-odd years ago irrelevant today.

I don't know how anyone is going to break the cycle, because even if Israel stops retaliating, that doesn't solve the Palestinians' problems, so it won't end the violence. I'm not sure the situation is solvable, because the West Bank is probably incapable of sustaining the population it has now. It certainly couldn't be a home to twice as many people, even if Israel were willing to permit that.

It's hard to imagine the violence going on for decades more. But it's just as hard to imagine why it should stop.

Because a nation of people elected a terrorist organization to rule them, thats supposed to add legitimacy? You say theyre not a terrorist organization, then what do you call a party of people who claim responsibility for terrorist attacks?
