Dozen people trapped upside down on roller coaster

Dozen people trapped upside down on roller coaster
ANGOLA, Ind. (AP) ? A malfunction on a roller coaster at a northern Indiana amusement park left about a dozen people hanging upside down about 50 feet in the air for about 45 minutes before they were rescued.

Firefighters used ladder trucks to nudge the coaster cars through the loop to an upright position on the Afterburner ride at Fun Spot Amusement Park Saturday afternoon, said T.R. Hagerty of the Angola Fire Department.

"All it needed was a little push to get it over that hump. It was just a matter of a couple inches," said Carri Trine, a manager at the park about 40 miles north of Fort Wayne.

The part I found most intresting was this:

A report from the Indiana Homeland Security Web site showed Fun Spot in compliance with inspection requirements.
Now what is the IHSD doing investigating an amusement park? Yet another example of how taxpayer funds are diverted from cause the taxpayers were told they'd be used for.

There are a lot of incidents in china amusement parks too. They clean the place off when somebody dies. No pics allowed or nothing... pure censorship.

ridikuloz 07-02-2006 12:54 PM

george bush does not care about rollercoaster riders.

ProducerCashDave 07-02-2006 12:57 PM

Um if you were a terrorist wouldn't you want you hit an area would you would find a lots of people in a confined space and an area where the average person would feel they are safe? Hell Disney World gets over 50,000 visitors a day. Perfect place to cause havoc.

E$_manager 07-02-2006 04:21 PM

i thought this is all safe.... now i will be afraid on it. :(

xclusive 07-02-2006 04:42 PM

Yeah, I could buy that. But why would they be investigating a mechanical failure? I can see them investigating something that blew up or providing security at the park or something... but a mechanical failure?

BluewireAngie 07-04-2006 03:02 PM

Who said they were investigating anything, the quote you put said the park was listed as compliant. Seems like you're reaching for something that isn't there.

supermann 07-04-2006 06:47 PM

How would they determine that the park is compliant without investigating. Unless the compliance is bogus, which knowing the hillbilly-people-turned-government-employees in that state, I am pretty sure thats a possibility.

MaddCaz 07-04-2006 07:13 PM

I'd shit my PANTS

Spunky 07-04-2006 07:14 PM

I wonder if they got a all day pass for that

i think what they were trying to say was the park was in compliance with "inspections" , meaning security checks ( and presumable safety checks )

Um, each states homeland security department does period safety checks of high traffic venues to make sure they are compliant with certain safety and emergency procedures. You must be an idiot if you can't see how thats beneficial to the public.
