providing a billing solution to members of their adnetwork was genius and a natural progression. unlike their other attempts...i think this one will take off.

fetishblog 07-06-2006 11:06 AM

I'm just interested to see how well it works in the long run and how many of Google's clients actually start using it. If they allow adult payments with it, I'll use it. ;)

those who choose to i guess. i'd imagine soon they'd intergrate it right into the ads displayed on adsense. will also make it easier to launch the CPA program.

JOHNNY_BUTTHOLES 07-06-2006 11:11 AM

Look at the examples of merchants they want to attract:

"Jockey, Starbucks Store, Levi's, Dockers, Buy.com, Timberland, Zales"

this isn't a true P2P, PayPal-like service. it looks like they will only work with premium merchants.

Attract more leads.
Shoppers who see the Google Checkouthahaha8482; badge on your AdWords ads will more easily find you when they search.

Process sales for free.
For every $1 you spend on AdWords, you can process $10 in sales for free. For sales that exceed this amount or if you don't use AdWords, you can process them at a low 2% and $0.20 per transaction.

well, it will be interesting (maybe). but i've seen this 'e-wallet' idea before. even Yahoo had one a while back. (do they still?)

too bad everything else from this company has put out in recent years blows. (maps is cool).

so goog is going to eat the processing fee in hopes of attracting more advertisers. ok, might work. sounds like a pretty big bet, though.

Doctor Dre 07-06-2006 11:32 AM

That will take a little share of the market. The adwords part is genious. Their bigger advertisers will all offer it as a payment method ;)

Saving the processing fees is big money.

I agree, the adwords part is what hooked me. I'm going to try it on one of my mainstream sites.

CIVMatt 07-06-2006 12:07 PM

Hmmm might check it out on some mainstream stuff see how it does

flashbang 07-06-2006 12:32 PM
