Whats the best wireless Router/network you can setup?

As far as $ goes I don't care. I need something to cover large areas. With almost 0 wireless drops

I looked at the Belkin wireless router N1

I bought the Netgear WGR614, 54mbps wireless router a week ago. I put in the CD, plugged in all the cables and off it went. I didn't have to touch anything in the config, until I turned on MAC address filtering to keep out wireless clients I don't know. I love it. It's fast and secure. And I haven't had any problems with torrents or p2p clients or anything else. UPNP works great, port triggering works great, no need for port forwarding.

I picked up the new Wireless N by linksys. 12x faster than wireless G..

make sure you setup encryption

Be warned that in a lot of areas wireless is nearly impossible to maintain w/o it dropping constantly. I live in an area that is very close to a radio station/tower and for about four hours in the morning it will completely disrupt my wireless connection and screw up my cordless phones. If you want convenience, you could go with a wired+wireless combo router just in case you have problems with wireless in your area at certain times during the day.

At work we needed a small setup for wireless, we went with Buffalo's WHR-HP-G54 Turbo G unit. It was fairly cheap, cost us around $70.00 and hasn't lost sync yet. At my home though almost all pure wireless systems will fail :(

thats what I have and I love it. very very easy and I am not networking savvy at all, but I have taken it with me several places and set up a network to work on and never had a single problem.

Yeah, I am a network guru.. Net+ CCNA well maybe not guru but I know my way around.

I was looking for something I could setup doctors offices and Larger SQ area homes. For a side business. I always do Wired Equalivent (wep) and Mac Filters (I also change the SSID) and set the MTU for 1500 and if I am setting up a network that everyone uses G I only use G..Because then I know other people cant connect or attempt unless they have 802.11g

I am looking for a business setup

IWantU_Jeff 07-06-2006 12:41 PM

yeah you'll need N for bigger areas.
Ijust got a simple DLink G108Mbps for 59$ the other day here in mtl. Nice for home use & no problems or anything ;)

Our Linksys has not dropped a connection since I hooked it up (that I know of). I started out with a netgear, and it was constantly dropping.

I have a wireless setup running 4 computers and 2 notebooks off it. Linksys all the way. Never had any problems with it.

Upgrade the firmware and use a repeater. No fucking way you're going to cover a 5000 sq ft house with just that.

I know. I picked up a signal booster form linksys that was like 100.00 but I don't think it works.

My house is 3,000 sqfoot but..I am trying to find something that will handle small business/offices

Get some access points to mount around your house.

Can you link me to some access points that would work with my setup?

I used this one at a friends house.
Mounted it on the ceiling, ran the cabling though the attic and down to the router in his office. He had a wireless router but it didn't work once he stepped outside. Mounted it in a hallway and it works about a block away from his house.
