Lunesta treats the symptoms (it puts you out), but it does not provide a cure for what is causing your insomnia and can be highly addictive.

The same for Prozac. Hell, Viagra doesn't treat the reason you aren't aroused (mentally, emotionally, etc), it just helps you with the physical erection. Haven't you figured out yet that you're in the age of plastic? Everything is to do the very least to provide the proper stimulus, but is still entirely hollow.

(Hard to believe I'm an optimist, huh?)

Good post.

Ever hear the expression, "How you deal, is how you feel".

I am hyperactive and also experience insomnia. I have come to believe that most of our supposedly modern problems have been around for about as long as civilization. So I ask, how did people cope (deal with it) pre-pharmacology?

It's funny in a way, but operating my own adult biz has been therapeutic inasmuch as I can go as long as I feel like, and I sleep when I am ready to. Meaning, I often awaken around the crack of noon, but feeling fully refreshed.

My time commitments with others (photo shoots and the odd meeting now and then), are always during my most lucid hours.

I saw what my brother went through with Ritalin, and I am happy with the path I followed.

Incidentally, during my corporate years, stress was the most common reason for my insomnia - problems or ideas would come at me from every direction as soon as my head hit the pillow, and even entered my dreams when I could finally sleep.

One solution I found was to put a notepad next to a nightlight by my bed. Then I could write down the problems/ideas/solutions and deal with them in the morning, allowing me to get my mind off them and relax enough to sleep.

Another possibility is to count the sheep in GFY, although that may keep you up all night...

I, too, experience much of this, down to the 'notepad', but these days, with the heat, I've moved a single computer back to the bedroom (which I swore I would never do), just to have one central work area that I can concentrate the air and coolness into.

I'm shifting again to an 'evening work', where I do my best, and most effective coding, but I'm still dealing with the daily grind of others, and their lives, and mine, while I try to get my fledgling services off the ground.. Got about 20 PR4s I'm going to recode and offer hardlinks to - BUT I still have some hardware I want to put in place first, some code updates, blah, blah, work, blah...

However, it's now 03:00, and I'm exhasted, having been up since 06:00 prior. Glad that you opted for the non-drug treatment, and it's working for you. I tried the pills, and man, the pills just don't do it. They make you numb, but that's all they do.

Pink Floyd: "Comfortably Numb"

Hello?
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone home?

Come on, now.
I hear you're feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain,
Get you on your feet again.

Relax.
I need some information first.
Just the basic facts,
Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're sayin'.

When I was a child I had a fever.
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I got that feeling once again.
I can't explain, you would not understand.
This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb.

Ok.
Just a little pinprick.
There'll be no more ...Aaaaaahhhhh!
But you may feel a little sick.

Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working. Good.
That'll keep you going for the show.
Come on it's time to go.

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're sayin'.

When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse,
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone.
I cannot put my finger on it now.
The child is grown, the dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.

How does it compare to Ambien?

Considering that most of the loonies don't live here, they just like to pick on poor ol' potato farming cart.. I mean bush..

I'd say GFY is full of nerosis and assburgers. Everyone who has relationship problems and is socially awkward likes to say they have assburgers, because they can label themselves, do nothing about it, and get to claim they're smart.

I don't have assburgers, but BoyAlley did try to slip me a hot dog once. :(

It's green, sticky and smells like something in between a Heineken and a skunk.

Not Lunesta. It's non narcotic. Ambien is fairly addictive. I've used both when I had insomnia about a little over a year ago while I was dealing with some personal issues.
