Ever burn through money and not know what you spent it on?

Britons are spending as much as 83 billion pounds a year without knowing where the money went, according to research by Visa.

A survey of over 1,000 people revealed that the average UK adult spends 33 pounds ($61) every week with no recollection of what the money bought.

With that amount, Visa said, the average household could have paid for the following:

-- everyday power and water bills for the whole year.

-- 96 percent of traveling costs for the year

-- all the weekly grocery shopping for three quarters of the year.

-- 72 percent of home improvements costs each year

-- three months' mortgage payments.

I can totally relate to that. I've burned through thousands at times and had nothing extra to show for it, and people say "Well, what did you spend it on?" and I say "I have no idea!" :upsidedow

I am now, I wasn't always. When I lived on my own in Vancouver, I'd have no worries and thus... no responsibilities. It never even occured to me to be saving it, much less investing it, so... I'd just do what I wanted.

Then I'd stop, look around and realize that I didn't really acquire anything new, my life hadn't changed... and yet... my money was gone!

I've definitely changed that now, although... sometimes it still does get away from me from time to time.

Nah I'm kind of a tightwad. I had a plasma tv for several months using rabbit ears before I even got cable, lmao. I went from about 1992 through late 2004 or so without cable or satellite, hehe. Basic cable is all I have even now, lol.

smart spender

Yup I am a spender but I know what I blow my money on. I do too much online shopping. Usually it's clothes, which is really a waste since I stay in the house 95% of the time.
