What should be done about the killing of innocent people in war?
Q: What should be done about the killing of innocent people in war?
AR: This is a major reason people should be concerned about the nature of their government. If by neglect, ignorance, or helplessness, they couldn't overturn their bad government and choose a better one, then they have to pay the price for the sins of their government?as all of us are paying for the sins of ours. That's why we have to be interested in the philosophy of government and in seeing, to the extent we can, that we have a good government. A government is not an independent entity: it's supposed to represent the people of a nation. If some people put up with dictatorship?as some do in Soviet Russia and as they did in Germany?they deserve whatever their government deserves. The only thing to be concerned with is: who started that war? And once you can establish that it is a given country, there is no such thing as consideration for the "rights" of that country, because it has initiated the use of force, and therefore stepped outside the principle of rights. http://www.aynrand.org/site/PageServ...ian_casualties This applies to Lebonese, Iraqies and Palistinians. |

Deputy Chief I have read some of your posts, you strike me as an anti-semite? Is this accurate?
Tell us about yourself. Where are you from? What is your heritage? Where do you live now? |

However, for the sake of those who don't understand why, allow me to explain. This little piece of dribble assumes "the people" of a country to be a single, coherent entity. Obviously, that is pure rubbish. Different people have different views, and blaming them for the views and votes of others, even if those are the majority, is ridiculous. Otherwise, one would have to hold dissidents and opposition responsible for the actions of the very regime they fight against - a completely unreasonable idea. Moreover, even those who may have voted for a specific government may not agree with all its actions. Lack of insight in hidden goals of a particular party does not make one responsible for those hidden goals when they eventually become clear. Ayn Rand is a simpleminded twat. |
There are no innocent people killed, there is however "collateral damage" and i guess we can live with that right?

The cannon thunders... limbs fly in all directions... one can hear the groans of victims and the howling of those performing the sacrifice... it's Humanity in search of happiness. --- Charles Baudelaire
This is really a very sickening thought about war. What should be done about the killing of innocent people in war? There's nothing much we can do but hope that they must be spared from such circumstance. I don't know either if those warfreak countries has a bleeding heart for its own people! |
