does anyone take vitamins at night ?

I take a multivitamin, vitamin c and e and calcium in the morning but I have been really sleepy all day and I think its the vitamins. So I was gonna start taking them before bed instead anyone tried this?

Manowar 07-22-2006 07:04 AM

I just eat and drink fruits

usually keeps me pretty pumped full of them

u-Bob 07-22-2006 07:38 AM

I always take them before I go to sleep...

Mr. Blue 07-22-2006 07:38 AM

Hmm, I don't think that would be a great idea...the best way to take vitamins is with a meal, it digests and absorbs better. You're not really taking anything too drastic, it shouldn't be making you feel tired.

CamsLord 07-22-2006 07:39 AM

yea i take em before i sleep, been like that for years, i dont notice any changes ??

MaddCaz 07-22-2006 07:42 AM

not since I was a kid

LilBro 07-22-2006 07:45 AM

its definitely not the vitamins making u tired unless u bought ones that r expired...check the dates....

best time to take those would be after breakfast...

polish_aristocrat 07-22-2006 07:48 AM

why would expired vitamins make you tired?

rigrunner 07-22-2006 07:48 AM

take them with a meal instead of when you sleep. they'll liven you up :D

Decadawn 07-22-2006 07:51 AM

Everytime I take vitamins before bed, I can't fall asleep at all...

goodgirl 07-22-2006 07:57 AM

I take them in the morning and at dinner. If I take them later, they do keep me awake later.

Taking expired vitamins isn't harmful, but expired vitamins aren't likely to do you much good. Once they expire, the vitamins may have already decomposed to the point where they're not very potent. The expiration date guarantees that the vitamins will include the listed ingredients up until the date on the label.

Scott McD 07-22-2006 08:09 AM

I take one of these each day. I almost choke on them though because of the size of the fucking things...

carol.prime 07-22-2006 08:18 AM

I only take Ascorbic Acid before going to work and Ferrous Sulfate before sleeping. I recommend that you take them before sleeping time.:winkwink:

jayeff 07-22-2006 08:21 AM

If what you listed is all that's in what you are taking, there is nothing which would cause your sleepiness, regardless of when you take them.

On top of that you are likely wasting your money, but that's another matter...

Matiz 07-22-2006 08:27 AM

Yes, I take them before I go to bed.

I think calcium is a tranquilizer. So, I would take that at night.

LittleSassy 07-22-2006 08:29 AM

no....i usually take them in the morning

s9ann0 07-22-2006 08:29 AM

I always take them with some food whether I take them at morning or night else I feel sick

Calcium alone is a very marginal tranquilizer. Combined with magnesium it becomes more effective, but the effect is still mild if taken in normal doses: 800-1500mg per day.

You get less tired during the day if you start with food that takes longer time to consume, like bread. Drink lots(!) of water, because lack of water makes your blood thicker, resulting less oxygen to your brain and you will feel tired. Drink tea instead of coffee. When you're really hungry do not eat fruit or sweet stuff, you need proteins. And 2-3g salt.

As supplement you need especially magnesium, zink, Q10 and B-6 (as pyridoxine!) And Taurine is VERY good :thumbsup

Ironically, many people just eat medicine, which makes you more tired and addicted, instead of looking at the causes. Water alone can do wunderbars.

And did you know; If you smell at jasmine in the morning, then you wake up very fast :2 cents:

Yes, yes it can. I drink a lot of water, I don't care if it makes me a human sprinkler system lol.

psili 07-22-2006 09:27 AM

Doesn't your body pretty shut down into hibernation and repair during sleep? If so, doesn't seem like the greatest time to intake goods when the body doesn't want to assimilate such goods.

I'd say, like many others in this thread: drink water, eat a healthy breakfast and take your vits then. Eat a healthy lunch, not a huge dinner, drink a bunch of water, force some pushups / situps / exercise on yourself during break points in the day and hopefully the sleepies go away.

KRL 07-22-2006 09:33 AM

I do mine at night right after dinner.

DaddyHalbucks 07-22-2006 09:38 AM

The calcium should be taken at night. Calcium helps to relax your muscles. Your body looks for calcium at night.

69pornlinks 07-22-2006 09:58 AM

varies I take vitamin c daily try to get in around dinner time weekdays or right before i start drinking...

That made me laugh. I drink so much water, I swear I spend more time being a human sprinkler system than i do sleeping. :)

I take vitamins in the morning, after I eat. Any later and I get a little revved and if i take them at night, i don't sleep.

Kimo 07-22-2006 10:05 AM

always in the morning

woj 07-22-2006 10:06 AM

I just take it in the morning/afternoon with some meal...

MyNameIsNobody 07-22-2006 10:09 AM

recently started taking multivitamin..

MicroChick 07-22-2006 10:35 AM

Do your homework. Research your vitamins and minerals. Also, if you are serious about taking what is right for you, go to a well-respected nutritionist. Taking the wrong pills can do damage as well as taking too many.

The AMA certified studies have shown that men and women need calcium, omega 3, folic acid, and the B-complex group. Also, avoid the hard tablets. Take capsules. A large clunky cheap calcium tablet will sit in your stomach and do you no good.

Your body is only going to take in what it needs anyways out of the vitamins, other than that it gets pissed or shit out...

The problem with supplements is that you never know exactly what your body needs.

We cannot get what we need from our food.

And, your body does not get rid of what it doesn't need when you overtake vitamin and mineral crap. You can overdose, and many do. You need the help of a specialist, and even then, there is no guarantee that person will know what to give you.

It is a *hit and miss* scenario. That is why the majority of people just take a multiple vitamin. People are lazy. They want simple solutions. There are none when dealing with your body's needs.

Also, it is best to take one new supplement at a time and observe your body for a couple of months to see if you are receiving any noticeable changes. If not, shit can the pill, and try a new one. We treat our computers better than we treat our bodies. When you decide to install new programs, you are a crazy person if you install more than one. You need to use the program and make sure it is not fucking up your computer. Then, you add a second new program.

You should do the same with vitamins/minerals/supplements.:thumbsup

bogo 07-22-2006 02:25 PM

no need for vitamins...just eat right.

Just curious.......what is eating right to you? Describe a perfect day's menu which you would consider...........eating right?

The AMA, the FDA, and all the major medical groups tell us what we should eat each day, and how the food should be prepared. I don't know one person who eats the long lists of fruits, vegetables, and grains that are suggested.

If you are such an expert, please share your idea of a *eat right* day.:)

are you pregnant?

UCH 07-22-2006 04:40 PM

dont take vitamins. You don't want your body depending on them and be unable to produce vitamins yourself

E$_manager 07-22-2006 04:51 PM

this is true, calcium is dangerous, overloading will cause you heart and bones problems

Martin 07-22-2006 05:10 PM

I find I have wacky dreams if I take them before bed.

blazi 07-22-2006 05:55 PM

personally I take a multi-vitamin each morning but never have during the evening or before bed...
