Is it just me or have you noticed a LOT more surfers on the board lately?

I have seen some pretty dumb statements.

-Guys looking for their favorite 8th Street Latina models

-People spamming get paid to surf porn programs

-Even more contest thread posters I've never seen before

-New people saying more dumbs shit than ever

-People spamming escorts and getting serious replies

Am I the only one noticing this? What happened? Is GFY now a surfer forum? :Oh crap

Tullian Zombie 07-23-2006 08:33 PM

Ok, so then how should I distinguish myself as new to the board but a non-surfer?

bogo 07-23-2006 08:38 PM

this board is 90% surfers... :2 cents:

CamsLord 07-23-2006 08:39 PM

public therefore there are surfers

minusonebit 07-23-2006 08:40 PM

These threads are always the same. I am gonna make a flow chart...

Everyone agrees there are too many surfers. Someone says GFY could stop it but wont due to reduced banner impressions. Somone proposes a membership only site. Several people support the idea. Someone points out that other forums are still do business. Then someone else says GFY is dying. Everyone corrects him and says it will never die. Then we all agree nothing will ever change and sure enough it dosent.

$5 submissions 07-23-2006 08:42 PM

If that's true then there's still money to be made........

Program reps should post previews of new content sets on their sites (some have the foresight and vision to already do this)

Content producers should post new model pics (again, some already do this)

Webmasters could post viral content and interesting pages to their site.

It doesn't have to be a completely NEGATIVE things While I understand many wm's come here for business (I'd like to think I'm one of those), this place is full of news, drama, content, and general entertainment. Might as well post materials that keep the diverse demographic in mind and make some bling at the end of the day. Right?

You are right Gene. That's why I flew an actual banner ad with 3 text links to different tours and or galleries all of l2004 & 2005. I don't think people noticed that. I guess they thought I was just sig whoring. LOL

Guess what, I made some sales from here. :2 cents:

ButtUgly-Bertha 07-23-2006 08:51 PM

Just suck alot of cock and keep your mouth shut!

Spunky 07-23-2006 08:54 PM

Nothing out of the ordinary

Pornwolf 07-23-2006 08:59 PM

I think it's telling that some surfers who have discovered Pay Per Post are posting in this thread.

I wonder if it's as lucrative to post on mainstream boards as it is this one?

Your join date to GFY is May 2006..along the same time that you started your porn "blog"...

So technically, you ARE a surfer who just started a blog and now you're up in here....THIS is what the original poster was talking about...Surfers who make a wordpress blog and now try to run with the big dogs.

Back in the day, anybody who started a JackLeg TGP would show up on GFY...Now anybody who starts a JackLeg BLOG is now showing up pretending to be in the biz..

But even you are a step above fools on here who are too lazy to even start a blog...

I am relatively new to this type of site. I have several sites that are family related, PR 6, 5 , and 4 sites that have alexa traffic ranks as low at 200,000. I do not want to be viewed as a surfer, but where is a good place to get started then?

SlickCash Brock 07-24-2006 07:23 AM

Every Summer! When the parents are at work, the Kids are out of school, and the Computer has been left to babysit, this happens. Someone should add some script to GFY so that after 6pm every evening it sends a "notification of GFY use" to the computers that were surfing it. I am curious to see how many parents would pull the plug on the family's computer when they see that their inoccent little Jr. has been surfing adult business message boards all day. I am fairly confident that this would eliminate a good chunk of surfers.

Great! I've been waiting for someone to "put me in my place."

You're right, I'm not "in the biz." I made an introduction post where I explained that this was only a sideline venture as I am a graduate student (Masters and working on a Ph.D.) AND I work FT in healthcare.

The current blog plus another one I'm getting ready to lauch was created to hopefully, one day down the road, bring in some extra money to help with day to day expenses as higher education is insanely expensive.

I work hard at my job, I work hard at the University, and am working hard on this blog and the next one that's getting ready to launch.

It's interesting that GFY seems to be the exception to the norm as the other adult webmaster forums I post in have welcomed me with open arms.

Yes the blog is new but you have no idea how long I was reading GFY, watching and learning and making contacts. About a year. When I don't know something, I research it.

What's always amused me about GFY is the whole 'you're not worthy to be here because you're not a player, you're not in the biz....' blah blah blah blah.

Every single one of you "pimps n' players" started somewhere. You started off with shit and no one knowing anything about you. So, NOW you're big time, eh? Good for you, just remember the bottom could fall out from under you at any time! Remember that.

Truthfully I'm just trying to get my post count up over 30 so I can use all the functions (linking, etc) when needed. Once that happens, you probably won't hear from me too much.

Because after all, I'm "just a surfer." And as you say that, I'll slowly be building up my blogs in my spare time (after 18 hour workdays).

Murderous 07-24-2006 09:55 AM

So...

Say I was working in adult for a couple years and just joined GFY, happened too be about the same time I start a new project. I decide to publicly link it in a post or in my sig. Some bullshit wannabe player from this forum goes to Alexa (of ALL fucking things) and notices it is a new site and puts that with me just now finding GFY that makes me a surfer.

You fucking people disgust me.

Not everyone here is a surfer, and the ones that are, are paying your fucking bills.

tranza 07-24-2006 09:58 AM

More surfers than ever... Pretty sad actually....

:)

And as you saw from my post, you shouldn't automatically assume shit. If he would have never came forth and answered your post, you would have never known for sure who he was or what he does.

Tullian Zombie 07-24-2006 10:10 AM

I'm not a "he." I am most definitely female.

Jesus Christ!

Don't worry everyone, as soon as I get my 30 + posts in, you won't be hearing from this "surfer" all that much.

I will go back to lurking, networking, etc. and you'll be none the wiser.

Doctor Dre 07-24-2006 10:21 AM

They opened the register form... that's why.

They should have somebody checking every new user to make sure it's a webmaster.

Dagwolf 07-24-2006 10:23 AM

There are no surfers. Only hitbots and postbots.
Possibly some fembots.

Ooooo, that's what I wanna be actually!

Murderous 07-24-2006 10:34 AM

What I find so funny, is that us webmasters surf more sites and click more links than even the busiest of surfers. We are just as much a surfer as anyone, we just ride a different wave.

Tullian Zombie 07-24-2006 10:42 AM

I just wanted to thank you Murderous.

I actually chat with several well respected people from GFY on ICQ. They've all encouraged me to start posting.

I use GFY as a resource. And yes, it is fun to bullshit occassionally.

Just because I don't own and run a program doesn't mean that I don't take my puny little projects seriously.

Trees grow from seeds afterall!

But it's all good, you know. I know for certain that if some of the people around here would start haunting the forums I generally hang out on, they'd get hazed too. Academics and intellectuals can be vicious! :1orglaugh

Just give me a chance everyone, it's all I ask.

I made an educated guess and I was right..If I was wrong, THEN I would have been assuming.

Murderous 07-24-2006 11:17 AM

You only call it an "educated" guess cause you were right. No other criteria verifies your guess as being "educated". I will give you credit for being right... this time. I am saying that this is not always the case. In fact it is more often not the case.

I was in the biz for a year. Had 3 sites with a decent amount of traffic and have worked with several sponsors all prior to my becoming a newbie to GFY. When I arrived folks thought the very same about me. In fact... due to me carrying a reputable sponsor in my sig so proudly, many folks beleived me to be a fake nick.

anne 07-24-2006 12:27 PM

Yea i think some of the business is getting lost in the "would you hit it" threads and other useless junk. Shame but i think its like the tides lol ebb and flow , ebb and flow :)

Same shit happened to me when I joined..one of the first threads I ever posted in, I got called a "Noob". But I took my lumps just like you did and just like he will...it's just part of the game.
