Hezbollah is controlling the news out of Lebannon, according to CNN's own reporter on CNN's Reliable Sources

Quote:

Howard Kurtz: ?I want to go now to CNN's Nic Robertson, who joins us live from Beirut. Nic Robertson, we were speaking a moment ago about the way journalists cover Hezbollah and some of these tours that Hezbollah officials have arranged of the bomb damage in the areas of Southern Lebanon. You, I believe, got one of those tours. Isn't it difficult for you as a journalist to independently verify any claims made by Hezbollah, because you're not able to go into the buildings and see whether or not there is any military activity or any weapons being hidden there??

Nic Robertson: ?Well, Howard, there?s no doubt about it: Hezbollah has a very, very sophisticated and slick media operations. In fact, beyond that, it has very, very good control over its areas in the south of Beirut. They deny journalists access into those areas. They can turn on and off access to hospitals in those areas. They have a lot of power and influence. You don't get in there without their permission. And when I went in, we were given about 10 or 15 minutes, quite literally running through a number of neighborhoods that they directed and they took us to."

"What I would say at that time was, it was very clear to me that the Hezbollah press official who took us on that guided tour ? and there were Hezbollah security officials around us at the time with walkie-talkie radios ? that he felt a great deal of anxiety about the situation....But there?s no doubt about it. They had control of the situation. They designated the places that we went to, and we certainly didn?t have time to go into the houses or lift up the rubble to see what was underneath.?

?So what we did see today in a similar excursion, and Hezbollah is now running a number of these every day, taking journalists into this area. They realize that this is a good way for them to get their message out, taking journalists on a regular basis. This particular press officer came across his press office today, what was left of it in the rubble. He pointed out business cards that he said were from his office that was a Hezbollah press office in that area.?

?So there's no doubt that the bombs there are hitting Hezbollah facilities. But from what we can see, there appear to be a lot of civilian damage, a lot of civilian properties. But again, as you say, we didn't have enough time to go in, root through those houses, see if perhaps there was somebody there who was, you know, a taxi driver by day, and a Hezbollah fighter by night....?

Kurtz: ?To what extent do you feel like you're being used to put up the pictures that they want ? obviously, it?s terrible that so many civilians have been killed ? without any ability, as you just outlined, to verify, because ? to verify Hezbollah?s role, because this is a fighting force that is known to blend in among the civilian population and keep some of its weapons there??

Robertson: ?Absolutely. And I think as we try and do our job, which is go out and see what's happened to the best of our ability, clearly, in that environment, in the southern suburbs of Beirut that Hezbollah controls, the only way we can get into those areas is with a Hezbollah escort. And absolutely, when you hear their claims they have to come with more than a grain of salt, that you have to put in some journalistic integrity. That you have to point out to the audience and let them know that this was a guided tour by Hezbollah press officials along with their security, that it was a very rushed affair, that there wasn't time to go and look through those buildings.?

?The audience has to know the conditions of that tour. But again, if we didn't get all ? or we could not get access to those areas without Hezbollah compliance, they control those areas.?

Here's one 'racist' that won't deny it. I hate Israel, I hate IT'S racist policies, I hate Zionists and I hate their continued efforts to drag the whole Western world, and particularly the US, into battles it should not be fighting. Fuck Israel, they are nothing but a magnet for hate for the US, and their complete unwillingness to obey international law and their inability to function in the region makes them a dead weight that the US should not be bullied, by Zionist lobbies in the US, into carrying. If American's had an ounce of sense or identity left they'd realise these people never have been and never will be their 'allies', and that a Patriot's war is not taking out Israel's enemies half way across the world (i.e. Iraq), but taking out those who push and promote these such wars at home.

I really don't care all that much if they ignore them or not, that is a matter for an uncorrupted UN to deal with. But the US certainly should not get involved in the manner and to the extent they do. The War in Iraq would not of occured if Zionists didn't have the power they have in the US, hell there would be no such thing (at least no real movement) as a 'neo-conservative' if Zionists didn't have such clout in the US. Why should the US feel so indebted to Israel that it should send its sons and daughters to go fight a war against nations that is no threat to its people or soil? I know you're Jewish, I know you're a Zionist, I know YOU put the Israeli flag before the US flag and know you are a racist, but one thing you are not is a US Patriot. Mark my words, Israel and Zionists in the US will eventually draw the US into a complete and all-out war in the region.

Substitute U.S. military or Iraqi government for Hezbollah in the quoted story, and Iraq for Lebanon...interesting:

Two words, "Embedded reporters".

Anything that is not Conservative is labeled liberal in some quarters (even communist, no less - thank you John Birch).

News flash...CNN is not liberal. From what I have seen they have an equal number of Conservatives and Centrists, with only a few Liberals.

Of course, some people prefer to have their news delivered from only the Conservative perspective. For only they are right - such intolerant thinking is what instigates and perpetuates such problems in the first place.

Are you fucking kidding me? CNN is almost are blatantly pro Israel as Fox is. They constantly talk about bombings in Israel, and generally ignore the casualties in Lebanon.

You must really be a Fox news monkey to believe that CNN has a liberal bias, especially an anti-Israeli bais. That's fucking commical.

Here's what you should do. Take an IQ test. If you can't crack 40, stop sharing your "opinions" with other people. They only make you look as stupid as you are.

Xplicit 07-26-2006 01:38 PM

I watch CNN almost 24/7.

When they show the casualities in Lebanon they seem to ALWAYS remind that "Isreal says this is because Hamas terrorist function in civilian neighborhoods".

Terrorism, by definition, is considered by the society in which it occurs, as extra normal, that is in the literal sense, in that it violates norms and conventions. September 11th showed us a new reality about life in this country and our reaction to September 11th should be extra normal as well. We must look at fighting this war in a unique way, which has never been used before. For the first time in history, it is possible that the average citizen can be the most important sentry in this - our war against terrorism. As a nation combined, our eyes and ears can create the biggest army this country has ever known. By working together, Americans can notice the enemy right in front of our eyes if we simply know what to look for.

As soon as this show ends, they'll find another conflict to cover.

It does not really matter. We have already lost this war. Americans are living in a fantasy land. My friends focus on getting a new kitchen and flippin the house they live in now. they watch TV and listen to that stupid RAP music on the IPods. Americans are like those horses that pull the carriage with the blinders on the eyes. I am sorry to admit it but all that is left now is some simultaneous explosions in several major US cities. It is coming and it will change the way you WE live. I am very very concerned that this is fast approaching and to my own dismay there are so many Liberal idiots inside the US who want to see them win.
