How high can these guys go? I remember a few years ago it was 50 bucks. Now it is over 100. What is the deal? How the hell can they afford to do this without going broke? Is it a scam?

It's an advertising expense... Gets more links up to the program and more active affiliates. With more traffic a program will make more sales off consoles, and also get more typein sales. Links usually stay up after the bonus period ends and keep on sending traffic at the standard payout rate.

It sounds like a risky proposition to me.
