Business Jets

If you've used one.

How did you get around town when you landed, (assuming you're landing at a smaller regional airport)? Cab to a rental car company? Have a local pick you up?

JFK 07-27-2006 10:42 AM

they usually have pre arranged deal with local limo, cab companies or rental outfits:2 cents:

Minte 07-27-2006 10:44 AM

Most of the small airports I fly into have a loaner car to use for a few hours. If I am staying at a place longer I always get a rental.

Usually they pick you up in one of these

:1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh that's TIGHT!

Yeah, usually there's a nice luxury car (car service) ready to pick you up like an escalade or a limo. Getting a cab after flying in a private jet seems to ruin the whole VIP experience :)

Thanks guys. I was just reading an article about VLJ (very light jets) with prices sitting around a million dollars they are expecting more than 10,000 to be in use by 2010. Just got me thinkig about the inefficiencies created by that many people hopping back and forth from your home city of LA to Tahoe or Boise and having to wait/try to find ground transportation not to mention the added costs (which are minimal in comparison to the jet fuel) but still of having to rent a car for a day at a time, maybe 10 days a month in the different cities you touch down in. it would end up adding up to a major waste of time

hehheehe if u rent a jet they provide limo services no cabs.

travis 07-27-2006 11:21 AM

We use a company out of Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport called Hop-a-Jet (hopajetworldwide.com). They have the best South Florida to Los Angeles and New York rates we could find.

Limo service is generally included if you just ask. Also if you use a private jet service a lot, you can get on the list for shuttle flights. They have to move the planes anyway and you may just get a good deal on a flight that they're taking regardless.

I was referring to buying and flying your own plane.

I've looked into renting them as well and ground transportation, food, etc is all added on to your bill (not complimentary as you're suggesting).

Odie 07-27-2006 11:28 AM

car and driver are usually provided if you ask. Getting to the airport is your own issue.

gotta love the private planes! :)

Brett

You can use either method. Limo/Towncars if you don't want to drive. They will meet you at the FBO and drive out to the plane to pick you up.

The other method when you land at an FBO are rental car (example. Hertz) companies will have a car waiting for you. All you have to do is pick up the keys and return it to the FBO. There is never any additonal cost added vs going straight to the airport. Your Hertz Gold program will auto bill your credit card on file. It is really slick you just pick up the keys. I was told they do this extra service for VIP's with the idea that these people are the C level employees of major companies worldwide that decide which rental car company to use for their employee corporate travel. So it is in there best interest to cater the nicest cars and services to these people.

Hope that helps.
