BMW Driver Training (PICS)

My dad and I had a great day taking the BMW Driver Training Perfection 2 course Friday at the Downsview airport. It was so much fun learning all kinds of defensive driving maneuvers and skid control. They had portions of the pavement painted with a sealant so that a water truck could periodically spray the surface to make it slick. It was the equivalent to black ice. We are considering taking the other more advanced courses.

do you have to drive a BMW to go there?

BaldBastard 07-30-2006 10:10 AM

They have that here in Aus as well thinking of sending my wife for her birthday, hehehhe

MaddCaz 07-30-2006 10:13 AM

push it lord!

Brad Gosse 07-30-2006 10:13 AM

It was $500 for the day :)

You don't have to drive a BMW but some of the training covered the BMW traction contol features etc, which is also available on other cars.

When IRA activity was at its peak in the UK, Rolls Royce had a defensive driving course. Among the maneouvres they taught was how to put a Rolls through 180 degrees and either go through a roadblock backwards or accelerate away from it, in both cases with minimum loss of speed and without trashing the gearbox. We put several drivers through that course as a bit of PR and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

PS: slightly different, but I read a while back that Mortimer Racing Schools run courses in the US these days. They are a lot of fun if anyone gets the chance to try them out.

nice deal, i need to do something like that one day, ive always wanted to go to one of those like body guard safty driver schools or whatever but they are crazy expensive and id never do it for a job, so this might be a cheap thing to start with
