What's your favourite steak marinade recipe?

I'll be throwing a couple of steaks on the grill in about 4 hours. What's your favorite quick marinade for rib steaks?

MaddCaz 07-30-2006 04:32 PM

Best 1-ingredient steak marinade (if you're in a hurry or on a budget) -- balsamic vinegar.

Dude, Heinz 57 is basically spicy ketchup. And ketchup goes nowhere near this girl's steaks.

Yeah, I just usually put Montreal Steak Spice on. Wanted to try something different tonight. I decided to go with Smack's marinade suggestion. They're looking good. They'll be hitting the grill in 30 mins.

And they're always medium rare :thumbsup

Bdiddy 07-30-2006 08:14 PM

You've made me nice and jealous :winkwink:

enjoy

Ohm 07-30-2006 08:21 PM

No need for any marinades.

Just use black pepper, garlic powder and salt. I use ground sea salt but any salt will do. The secret is to not apply the salt until AFTER you're done cooking the steak. Otherwise the salt will dehydrate the meat and make it tough and dry.

Put the crushed black pepper first and then apply a thick layer of garlic powder. Cook to the desired temperature and then add the salt to taste. That is the perfect steak and doesn't require one minute of marinating. :thumbsup

Just in case you're determined to use a marinade try Italian dressing (the vinegar tenderizes the meat), garlic, and some dark beer. That's a pretty quick and delicious marinade.

Saute' some onions and mushrooms in burgundy wine and butter to top it off = MASTERPIECE!!!

Some great ideas in this thread.

Sadly (for you all) my secret marinade recipe stays in the family.

Should anything happen to me I willed it to my dog. :D

CamsLord 07-30-2006 10:00 PM
