$10 per month for dental, vision, and medical. Union job FTW.
|
How the hell is it so cheap for all of you ?? Is that partial pay ??? I thought about getting health insurance for my wife and kids, but always thought that since we're younger, we'd hold off instead of paying $1,000 per month for shitty coverage. In a year's time, we spend maybe $1,000 total for doctor bills.
I know, I know, if something bad should happen, I'd be fucked, yeah, I know that, but for now, me and the wife are 32, so hopefully we'll have a few more health issue free years ahead of us (knock on wood). I just can't see pissing all of that money away. I'm no expert in this area, so please correct me if I'm wrong with the price. |

Get a HSA plan. All insurance companies have that option. Tax advantages and ass saving coverage.
|
A little too much in taxes I guess ... I don't exactly know.
|
I pay 110 euro a month for full coverage...So dentist, all doctors etc etc...Also I am covered for surgeries in foreign countries world wide...
When the costs of your doctor/dentist visits is lower than 250euro in a year, you get the difference back... So no costs at all 250 euro back dentist cost 50 euro, 200 euro back etc |
Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida for myself and 3 year old son -- personal policy...not through an employer.
$233/month |

For the wife $206 a month for her Blue Cross PPO plan. I just have emergency care coverage and that's $65 a month. That's what I get for living in SoCal, higher prices.

Is United Health Care any good?
I've been looking at a plan for myself that they have. While I'm not thrilled about the cost for a $2,500 deductible plan, I can write it off, and I need something. (the boys are both insured elsewhere) They are coming in cheaper on quotes than Blue Cross, but I've never heard of them. |
Nothing- health care is free in austria/germany

Obviously if you had one, then you are going to have to wait their grace period. But after that, you have your 1 million lifetime cap. The other main difference is lack of preventive care (i.e. copay dr's visits). Those you have to pay out of pocket. Their prescription coverage is not so good. I rarely HAVE prescriptions, and would have to spend $250 for the year before they pick up the tab. But that's ok. Dr's visits, and my one antibiotic a year's not goign to kill me. Some major issue, or hospital visit would. Plus I do not need to worry about them jacking my rates up if I get some new disease, or being dropped. So I will pay more, and have less to worry about. I am not familar with all of the rest out there. But I did research a handful before picking Blue Cross. |
If you are on a high deductable health plan you should get an HSA (health savings account) and save pretax dollars to use for out of pocket expenses and it earns interest as well and can stay with you. Its simular to a 401k
