What is more dangerous?
Lightning or deer? Personally, I have never known anyone that has been injured or killed by lightning, but know several that have been injured or killed because of deer.
This evening was pretty exciting. Started off with so much lightning that it looked like Chinese New Years and 4th of July rolled into one, and sounded like a bowling alley on league night. It was pretty intense to be riding along and have fires started next to you from lightning strikes. After we escaped that the deer came out in full force. There had to be well over 100 of them that we saw on the side of the road. I can't understand, fields as far as the eye can see, and the little fuckers all have to hang out along the highway like they are watching a parade come by. When they start running your heart stops because you have no idea which way they will end up going. Glad to get to the safety of civilization. |
Deer! By far!!
About 7 years ago, I totalled my car when I hit a yearling. YEARLING! Not even a full grown deer. I did everything I could to avoid hitting hit too. |
i want deer. It would make driving around here more exciting
|
Was this you?

that being said, i've hit a deer before, twice actually, its a fact of life |
Deer hit by lightning dropping dead in the middle of the road.
|
deer that has been hit by lightning
|
Be lucky you dont have Elk or Moose.

I dunno? economically, which directly effects humans daily affairs, would have to be lightning by far. As for direct threat to human life? Getting struck by lightning is around a one in 84,000 chance during your entire lifetime, so I?m going to have to go with deer.

Chances are the deer

deer is pretty bad, I hit one three years ago with my car, not a nice thing

Oh, so you think it is coincidental that they happened to build the highways right thru their grazing spot, or was it on purpose? |
lol welcome to the midwest baddog :) How is Sturgis so far?

I would say deer, and especially if you are driving thru the woods.

Armadillos are pretty treachorous when riding a motocycle..I hit one one time when I lived in Texas and actually owned a bike. It almost threw me..I was lucky
I drive in the mountains late night all the time and I creep along with fear that I will hit one of those huge ass elk and it will come through my windsheild and impale me. |
Deer, for sure. I hit a big one about a year ago doing 120km/h and totalled my bimmer. I hate dears with a passion ever since. :)
Aico, that clip you posted was great. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh Thanks for the laugh. |

No deers in my country. So I'll go with lightning. My sister almost got struck by lightning.
|
DAMN! I did grow up in the sticks. We all had big steel grills mounted to our rigs so when we hit them they just bounced off. No damage to the trucks at all. Can't say the same for the deer though.
Also, never try to miss a deer. All you will wind up is dodging the same direction that they are going to run. Aim for where they are and let them get out of the way... |
