Lamont Defeats Lieberman in Primary

Lieberman had 48% of the vote. He said he's no longer a Democrat and will run as an Independent.

Yup but hugely controversial. I dont think this will fly. Watch other dems distance themselves from Lieberman in droves. Already Sen Clinton has put her support behind Lamont - most others will fall in line. Im assuming many republican senators wont want bush coming around to stump for them this round. :winkwink:

LOL "independent" ?!? I agree with you in principal - who isnt sick of the sameold sameold - however to call old joe and independent is to call GWB an "outsider". Its just a semantic/tactical ploy to get back in the race now that he isn't the official democratic nomine. IE lost.

If anyone in this race is an independent its Lamont.
