Other forums on gfy being mentioned

Ok i understand this rule if its another forum that is direct competition but what if a webmasters runs a porn forum people can submit to and get traffic from? What if its totally unrelated to adult webmasters and brought up as a traffic resource? What if i made a mainstream forum and wanted to talk about it and how to increase users and revenue?

Cool or not cool?

Does it bring down the ban hammer?

A lot of times it gets in the gray area. I tend to look at them on a case-by-case basis.

If it's a adult webmaster forum that's clearly in the "red" zone.

Forums geared towards the surfer, and as long as it's for marketing and for actually building sales, I can understand that.

Forums that target the surfer with the only point being giving away the ranch in content. I tend to treat the mega-content-giveaway forums like I treat warez or "cp" sites. They should all DIE!

Mainstream forums, hmmm... if someone was to mention a forum for something like design (Photoshop, Flash, etc.), or programming (php, MySQL, vBulletin, etc.), I don't think I would have any serious problem with that either.

Bottom line is, I don't just start swinging the ban hammer any time I see the word "forum". :)

Thanks for the reply TD, and clarifying things a bit for me. I know stuff like outside board promotion really probably comes down to a case by case basis and it was a topic I was always curious about.

What about if the forum was just being advertised as one line (or less) in a sig?
