So I Failed My Driver's Exam For the 3rd Time :-(

Didn't look good enough at two crossroads, apparently enough reason to fail me for the third time.

Amazing :disgust

fallenmuffin 08-10-2006 01:48 AM

That sucks.. I just passed my exam on the 1st :)

xclusive 08-10-2006 01:49 AM

Damn that sucks, better luck next time.

cranki 08-10-2006 01:52 AM

flunked the first time as well... the instructor said it was the quickest fail in history... drove for about 30 secs then missed a light which had turned red in the very second after I looked at it...

Zarathustra 08-10-2006 01:55 AM

don't give up kiddo

marketsmart 08-10-2006 02:08 AM

you do know a yellow light means, "hey stop, its about to turn red, then cross traffic will go" not "SPEED UP BEFORE IT TURNS RED!!"... if you stop at a yellow, you get positive points...

just a heads up so you pass next time

LiveDose 08-10-2006 02:25 AM

Damn that reminds me, mine expired last month...

Oh, that must truly suck! All I can say is: Better luck next time and prepare better. Drive like you're the most careful driver in the world. Look even when you know there's nothing to look at. Do everything by the book. You can drive like a real person once you passed the damn test. :thumbsup

Matt 26z 08-10-2006 02:34 AM

Took me three attempts. The quote "YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE CAR!" sums up the first one. For the second one I heard "He had to sound his horn to avoid an accident with us." (plus I drove up on someones lawn during that one). Then I finally passed the third one, but could have failed since I didn't use my turning signal.

Then about a year ago I had to take the test again since my license was expired for more than a year. For that one she screamed "YOU ARE GOING TO HIT THAT CAR!" I didn't, but then I was backing out of a driveway and I didn't really care who was coming in the other lane. I can back out and turn and stay in my own lane. Obviously she thought otherwise, because when I hit the gas and that other car was coming she yelled "OH MY GOD!" I passed, but only because she couldn't find anything to fail me for.

They will give up and let you pass on your 5th try. Don't lose hope. :winkwink: :thumbsup

goldrush 08-10-2006 02:45 AM

Better learn to drive then.

Fred Quimby 08-10-2006 02:57 AM

Wow, I've been driving longer than you have been alive

LMAO

My first one went ok but I made two mistakes, didn't agree with it completely but it was better than this time.

Second time was like your first sounds, I totally blacked out and everything went wrong.

This time I really felt confident, did everything by the book, I just missed a few crossroads... but no one's perfect right?

testpie 08-10-2006 03:20 AM

I failed mine first time, but i got my money's worth - i was in the left-hand lane of a dual carriageway and was trying to turn right, going across the dual carriageway.

Out of interest, do you Americans actually have any roundabouts anywhere in your country?

Manowar 08-10-2006 03:34 AM

Damn bro, that sucks.

Don't give up on it, you'll pass sooner rather than later :thumbsup

DutchTeenCash 08-10-2006 03:36 AM

Crap

well youll make it im sure. Most Americans here forget driving examns in Holland are like 100 times as hard as the US ones. No 16yo examns here. No closed driveways to practise. Theyll send you into Amsterdam and have you park backwards up a hill while 10 cars are waiting swearing getting annoyed.

Then again if you can drive here you can drive basically anywhere.

In what city are you doing the exam? I did it in Alkmaar

Pretty much the same here in Britain - our driving tests are pretty extensive, not to mention the cost and the additional theory test. Americans have it easy - plus, they mainly drive damn automatics.

Probably, although mini-roundabouts are a joke - people just drive straight over them.

emthree 08-10-2006 03:39 AM

Wow, we got some weird motherfuckers onboard.

gangbangjoe 08-10-2006 03:41 AM

ough man
it gets harder everytime i can imagine (because of getting nervous)

failing the driving can happen to everyone (i remember some famous race driver failed it twice but i cant recall the name)
but if you fail the theory-test more then once you are too stupid :1orglaugh

i managed to get my license on the first try although some bitch in her benz drove out of her parkinglot without looking on the street if there is anyone

i had to step on the brake a 100% to not t-bone her...
what a bitch

the guy testing me even showed her the middle finger and called her a cow :1orglaugh

Leiden... I had to drive to Wassenaar for the 3rd time lmao, a very popular exam route.

Yeah I got my theory the first time as well, but that's the easy part. The answer is either right or wrong. With the driving exam you're totally dependant on the mood and strictness of the guy who tests you.

thricer 08-10-2006 04:30 AM

better luck next time

Damn. that sounds hard. I've had my Us drivers license for over 10 years, and to be honest I still can't parallel park in a narrow space between cars. I'll drive extra far just to find a parking spot that's non-parallel, such as an open spot that you can just pull in.

so you can imagine what his tone was like

Dirty Dane 08-10-2006 04:36 AM

Good luck on the 4th :)

u-Bob 08-10-2006 04:43 AM

In Belgium:
Theory: passed the first time.
Practical test part 1 (paralell parking, reversing down a narrow lane (width = width of car + 30cm),... + opening the hood and locating the radiator, the battery,... + answering some technical questions): passed the first time
Practical test part 2 (driving on the road.. mostly in a very busy and crowded town/city): passed the second time.

Pornasahobby 08-10-2006 04:47 AM

A year is not enough

I've been trying to pass it for a year already. (Started to take driving lessones last November) But all in vain: I just have no time to do that regularly ((((

Rui 08-10-2006 05:19 AM

I guess that means you shouldn't be allowed to drive (and i'm serious...)

J. Falcon 08-10-2006 05:25 AM

Too bad, I passed my first time without any problem.

heywood 08-10-2006 05:29 AM

That's kind of crazy. I thought I was bad, failing twice (when I was 16).

The first time, my car I was supposed to take the test in, broke down. So I was forced to take my dad's 72 Chevelle SS for the drivers test. Sure, I was stoked about being able to take the chevelle, but the DMV guy was not. Having a young inexperienced 16 year old behind the wheel made him very nervous. He ended up calling the test and having me drive back after I made one mistake, he was way too nervous.

The 2nd time I had this old bitch who nitpicked everything, but I failed that one on my own. My own nervousness caused me to make mistakes.

The 3rd time I finally got it, after being made fun of by all my friends. I passed the written part of the exam with flying colors, only missed one question. Kind of wierd how that stuff works, most people do just the opposite.

Pornopat 08-10-2006 06:05 AM

Its easy to get one here on the island.
Offcourse you would have to stay 6 months to make it valid in the Netherlands....
