Depends on what you can "handle"...

1 site means less work updating etc. Helps to focus your promotional efforts etc. But there's more risk since all your eggs are in that one basket.

Multiple sites reduces your risk and allows you to take advantage of multiple revenue streams, but it increases your work load and your promotional efforts are spread thinly.

I prefer 100 sites making $1 a day, because if one site goes down the other 99 still will be making money.

If you have one site making a $100 a day at least you know what the hell you are doing and good make 99 more making 10.000 dollar! Now that sounds like a plan :thumbsup

If you can make 100 sites making $1 a day, you've got a good formula down and should be able to easily keep expanding your network. More growth potential with 100 sites making $1 a day than 1 making $100. IMO.

I assume you mean EACH site makes $1 a day :)

And there's a lot more potential - if even a few of those sites increase traffic/conversion, etc. (say, even 10 sites go to $2/day) that's an extra $300/month for a very modest improvement.

It's all in the time/management tradeoff. If you can operate 100 sites with almost no effort, it may be the better choice. If it's time consuming stick to one site so that you have time for other things.

1 site making $100. If it is 100 sites making $1 per day, it will make $1 per day regardless the SEO.
It doesnt say anything about the time needed for working on the sites, if the $1 sites doesnt requirre any work, I'll take them, and start the $100 site too.

1 site making $100 is better assuming you have to have domains for all those other sites. Because you would spend around eight hundred extra a year on 100 sites making $1 a day just in domain fees.

So in theory if you made the exact same amount on sales from both arrangements, the one site would make you more profit over the 100.

I like diversification in niches and products, so I went with $1/site... That's my formula now and it is working well for me.

why not do both and make $200/day? :)

100 sites can grow and make 100 a day each

100 sites is better, cuz one site may be kicked out for example from google serps :)

I was assuming the $1/$100 per day was net profit, after hosting, etc. Obviously your point is very valid if it's gross sales!

i guess i depends on the sites n their potential etc.

but in terms of maintenance etc id say one site making $100

Various reasons:

• Less work managing one single site.
• Less money hosting one domain
• In theory it should be easier to create more sites onto your network with one massive one which can send more traffic rather than a bunch of scrawny sites.
• It's easier to understand your traffic and sales statistics looking over reports for one site rather than 100.
• With the same logic, it's easier to manage and test your ads and marketing with one site rather than 100.
• It's easier and cheaper to manage new deisgns and scripts with a single site
• If we're talking paysites, it's WAY WAY cheaper to purchase/make content for one rather than 100.

I could go on and on, but I think I made my point.

With no given variables i'd take the 100 sites @ a dollar a day.

100 Sites making 1.00 is better.

1 site making $100 a day on auto pilot. Then build (establish) me another one and so on.

Once you got a formula that works... keep drilling.

100 dollar a day sites seems to tedious and less rewarding. Too many programs to sign up @/keep up with, too many stats to check, too many updates for a dollar a day each and too much over head in my opinion.

100 sites better as long as they're are all wutomated, otherwise - pain in the ass, so I'd say 20 sites making $5.00 a day

this industry varies so often that soon enough a few of those sites will tank - to rely on one site and one site only is a risky game - unless you have content that is so unique and timeless - then you have a few years staying power until the masses get board and another unique site comes along

1) As I mentioned above, I was assuming it was $1 / $100 per day profit, not gross.
2) I doubt he was referring to paysites at $1 profit per day :)
3) You fail to see the potential in having many sites produce revenue (even if it's a small amount), the upside is SO much greater.

Ideally, you'd spend a little time on each one until a few start to grow/increase revenue. Now, if a few really catch on (i'm talking even $15 - $20 net profit/day), hire some cheap help to manage while you get the others going.

About 2 years ago i had one main site doing well and nothing else. To be safe I started a little network ... it then became a big network. Most of these micro-sites were built, linked up, and left for dead. A few months later my main site got thrashed by the SEs and the network was all I had ... (some are still producing today)

So, I kept building and a few "blossomed", earning up to $500 / month each. Not to be content, I built out more, spread them around, tried new things (kind of like market research) and lo and behold a few of my big earners got killed off.

Rinse, repeat.

Main point here: Having a network of 100+ sites (or even 10, 20...) allows you to test, expand, cover your ass and most of all, potential for a few to really take off.

So, certainly in my .02, the 100 option is the easy choice.
