Who do you think is the smartest person on GFY?

Sleazy asked if you think that you're smart. Well, instead of telling us about you, tell us about someone else.

Keep in mind that many nerdy scientists with huge IQ's are actually white coat wearing lab doc's who earn a salary. So someone doing well in business and getting rich doesn't necessarily mean that they are the smartest.

Ok, go.

DamageX 08-17-2006 06:19 AM

Smart? Either Lens or Lars.

Smart refers to quick intelligence and often a ready capability for taking care of one's own interests.
Intelligence usually implies the ability to cope with new problems and to use the power of reasoning and inference effectively.

It is better to remain silent and appear wise than to speak and remove all doubt.

So I say it's one of the lurkers.

Rui 08-17-2006 07:59 AM

I would say somebody that joined the board in like 2001 and has like 50-150 posts ;)

Think about the time they saved and managed to do with it ;)

I'd almost say that if one were creating a list, I'd have to at least get an honorable mention since the software I created spurned a $400 million/year industry, spurned another $80 million/year industry, forced hundreds of companies to update their software and marketing practices and created many jobs..

But I showed it to the wrong people who showed it to their friends who copied it from offshore companies - so I lose alot of points for being trustfully stupid!

dennisthemenace 08-17-2006 09:14 AM

Which leads to the "Does smart = Money" question.
Which GFY decided is false.
Which is the answer I believe.

I believe that a large majority of brilliant minds are not recognised, nor the impact of them on the world is even realised till genie comes out of the bottle.

In which case the concept brought into the world is brutally cannibalised via replication.

It's called free market capitalism.

He was my first choice ... I've always enjoyed his posts.

I remember once I said something back to him and a co-worker is like "careful..that's Smokey, he's smart."

And that he is ...
