help with neighboors (urgent!)

We just moved to a new area.. 10 houses in this area and we share a common playground..

the playground is about 10 meters from our garden and I'm already bugged by it.. now they are thinking of making it larger and basically have it next to my lawn.. not very cool at all as I'd like to enjoy my lawn and not have tons of kids playing next to it.. (my office and our bedroom have a direct view)

what the fuck would you do in my situation? we're new and need to step lightly..

Violetta 08-17-2006 06:50 AM

I'd do something like this with those kids:

Should make sure NOONE will ever play there again!

lol... just kidding. You'll get used to the noise! :) And your upcoming kid will love it.

That sucks...I would discuss it with a lawyer I think...

BTW when I visit unrealbank to check it out, I got a Trojan warning

red x :/

no problems with the playground itself... BUT I don't want the whole neighboorhood sitting in my garden or next to the property line.. its where the sun is and its where I'm enjoying my beers :/

Well you could either put up a small electric fence around the perimeter of your property or wait until an adult is out there and casually walk outside like you are going to get the mail or something then, when they aren't looking, run up as fast as you can and punch them in the face while screaming something like "I hate the way the color blue smells!". Let me know how it works out for you.

sickkittens 08-17-2006 06:54 AM

You didn't think this would be a problem before you bought the place?

stickyfingerz 08-17-2006 06:54 AM

Put up a fence yo! That way you will get to keep lots of footballs, and baseballs, soccer balls etc. :winkwink:

Bama 08-17-2006 06:56 AM

Sit out in your yard drinking your beers in a man thong and if you have a hairy butt - even better!

Those Mom's will keep those kiddy's away from your house with a 10 foot buffer to your property line!

evanmorgan 08-17-2006 06:59 AM

ask to be put on the sex offenders register........Bam! no park within 2 miles

Take a sex doll and hang it out of your window (gallows). If anyone asks, tell them it's art and that it's gonna stay there. Nobody will build anything involving children near your backyard. :thumbsup

Put A Fucking Big Fence

Antonio 08-17-2006 08:24 AM

that's easy - shoot couple of kids, the rest will go away

Viper2K1 08-17-2006 08:55 AM

put a " I *hart* michael jackson" fan sticker on your car :thumbsup

i am/been in a similar situation, the kids of the house behind me (so their backyard begins where mine ends) are totally out of their mind ... there's only 2 of them but they make enough noise for 10
I don't mind kids playing and having fun, but fuck, i have my rights to a quiet afternoon/evening aswell.
Luckily they're moving out shortly, they sold their house :)

It's tricky, certainly because you're new and you don't really want everybody to look at you as the "bad guy who doesn't allow their kids to play"
Hoping that those parents have half a brain and would tell their kids act normal is one thing you can tho, but it's not very likely these days.

You'll be glad when it's raining ;)

TondaB 08-17-2006 09:46 AM

Do you guys have an association?

Jensen 08-17-2006 11:22 AM

oooookey.. I'm back from meeting a lot of them and man I'm having second thoughts about living here..

most of the parents seemes weird and only care about drinking and talking bull about those that weren't present...

think I need a fence since they basically told me that their kids will eat of my fruit trees and the adults walk through my lawn... eh ok.. and as an extra they had deposited my sand into the common area and didn't feel bad at all.. yep, they had walked into my garden and stolen my sand.. fuckers!

split_joel 08-17-2006 11:23 AM

Tell them what you do for al iving and see if they let your children near the house

Podacarpus- It's a bush that grows VERY quickly, (vertically only) and is quite dense. It's often used by landscapers to separate smaller adjoining lots. Plant them close together and you have a good visual (and sound) barrier by the time your child is born. :thumbsup requires NO maintenace/cutting, etc. and grows (fast) year round.:pimp

And yes, i really wanna be a gardener when i grow up.

LiveDose 08-17-2006 01:29 PM

That sucks. Neighbor issues are a pain in the ass!

L-Pink 08-17-2006 01:39 PM

Not to give you a hard time but, you remind me of people that move near an existing airport or freeway then complain about the noise.

People that live in remote or private areas do so for a reason.

ServerGenius 08-17-2006 02:43 PM

Invite me for a week to your house and I'll sort out ya neighbour problems
for good :thumbsup

I'd Put Boy Alley On the Case

set a few VERY VERY large tv's for the window..
and do your adult biz ... lets see how long it takes before the other 9 households demand to relocate the playfield ;)

no worries.. but its not really the noise.. I just don't want to be disturbed that much.. I want to be able to sit in my lawn or enojy the sun on my balcony without chatting with rest of the gang living around here (people sit there with their kids from 8 in the morning and drink with their buddies until midnight)..

there is a road going past the area atm so I wasn't exacly prepared for them to get rid of that without even consulting me.. the 9 other houses aren't even remotely affected by this

DateDoc 08-19-2006 07:31 AM

have the playground moved to another location where it will affect no one.

my gf is a gardener so luckily we've got that area covered.. problem with podocarpus is that it fits more southern area and not our cold enviroment up here... :/ but feel free to hit me with more that might fit in colder areas!
