Hosts replacing your reflinks with their own ?

Hosts replacing your reflinks with their own ?
Hummmm like wtf ????????

They look at your network on a certain "box" and they put their linkcodes on their own sites or they signup (if they are not already signed up) to the sponsor you are advertising ? They do this on an percentage so it's hard to catch them ?

Have you been fucked by some ?
Do you think you've been fucked by some in the past ?
Are you suspecting you're getting fucked by some RIGHT NOW ?

LOL come on.

Think your sponsors would stand for it?

QUICK! Get your tinfoil hat!

Or else, post proof :)

So has this actually happened to someone or is it entirely a paranoid fantasy?

I guess it could happen if you're "hosted" by another webmaster, but I can't see a serious host doing it...

I know there are several toolbars that do this,, zango is one of them, alot of links using tiny url has the reflink replaced with theirs, quite a few of the toolbars do it..

Also, almost every one of the so called adult browsers do it too,,,

DutchTeenCash 08-21-2006 03:59 PM

you have to be jokin

never heard that and I doubt its true the host does that

Matt 26z 08-21-2006 04:39 PM

I wouldn't rule out the possibility of this, but I'd be blown away if any names we recognize are doing it.

This would be limited to scummy freehosts and very small hosts that are struggling.

nAtuRaLbEautY 08-21-2006 06:58 PM

i haven't heard of one doing such thing, yet...

Matt-RevShare 08-21-2006 07:08 PM

I can't imagine that this is happening. Most hosts are busy enough just keeping everything up and running. I can't imagine trying to screw my customers by changing the codes.

Plus its so easy to catch and impossible to hide. Why jeopardize your whole business to steal a few joins. Just doesn't make sense to me.

Sounds like something a shady freehost might do.

But anyone using free hosting for their business probably deserves it.

Stallion 08-21-2006 07:21 PM

have seen some freehosts do that in the past, but no paid hosts. pretty crappy thing to do..

Barefootsies 08-21-2006 07:46 PM
