How exactly can that check whether the PR is "real" or not?

That test itself says "The determined PageRank APPEARS to be real." and also "Given that the results of the PageRank Verification depend on several factors which can change anytime we cannot guarantee for their correctness."

I'm not saying it isn't, I'd just like to know how one verifies PR and that's it's not some high value due to some black hat things that will drop to a 3 when google does it's next update.
