My Letter on Dogooders Trying to Close Strip Clubs Published Today in the Local Paper

I'm sure the moral police are planning thier counter letters right now... and for the next month I'll get to read the drivel sent in by all the feeble minded fools that I live around tell me what a anti-Christ I am and how the government has a duty to protect the children from this, that and the other.

No right

I've grown very tired of the constant barrage of attempts to restrict what's shown on TV, heard on the radio, read in the newspaper and available at local businesses by the do-gooder busybody element that is so prevalent around South Bend. These are people who think, for whatever reason, that they have the right to tell others how to live.

There are constant letters in The Tribune calling for this group and that one to censor this and close that. Don't these people have anything better to do other than take up a campaign against a strip club or demand that we all watch cartoons? If it's really so horrible, why do clubs make many millions annually from patrons who pay to get in?

If you don't like strip clubs, don't visit them. If you can't stand the filth on TV or radio, turn it off. If you don't like what's in the paper, don't buy the paper. But stop trampling on my constitutional right to see, read and experience as much filth as I can afford. It's not your place and you have no right to do so.

It was a good foundation for an argument, right up until the childish "cartoon" comment.

Yeah, because it violated the unconsitutional zoning laws.

There was a letter not more than a week ago where some lady was whining about the filth thats on TV. I suppose it could be taken as childish, but how else do you refer to the morons who want to take all of the blood and guts off TV? Myself, I like to watch an occasional action movie with a few murders and beheadings and explosions because I, as an adult, know the difference between reality and entertainment. If these nuts had thier way, we'd all be watching Seaseme Street.

In my city they tried to close topless bars. Several club owners hired an attorney that not only proved they were allowed to operate, he also proved that dancers could in-fact dance nude.

Our city council people went from trying to close topless bars to having a court order stating nude was ok. Pretty funny.
