He is a fucking idiot in case no one had noticed.

I hate to play the race card, but do you think he would be mayor if he was white?

Sly 08-25-2006 12:03 PM

Nagin has proved several times that he isn't the sharpest pencil in class.

Now I'm curious, what "hole" is in New York that hasn't been fixed? From what I know, the process of repair and reconstruction has been going on from day one. New Yorkers, please fill us in.

I would presume he is suggesting the WTC has not been replaced yet.

Ground Zero site he was referring too

During the CBS "60 minutes" interview, a correspondent pointed out flood-damaged cars still on the streets of New Orleans' devastated Ninth Ward. Nagin replied, "You guys in New York can't get a hole in the ground fixed, and it's five years later. So let's be fair," according to CBS.

I know what he was referring to. I inferred that in my second sentence. I was basically saying, he has no room to say that because the rebuilding of the WTC has been in the works for several years now. Icon skyscrapers do not pop up over night, nor destroyed cities.

Many people seem to have this crazy idea in their head that at the snap of fingers buildings go up and cities get built.

your president is way more stupid, and hes all white...

ronaldo 08-25-2006 12:17 PM

I'm not sure of the context he used it in, but to be fair, he's not entirely wrong. That's not a slap at NYC either, but the WTC owners and those directly involved.

Think about it. While 9/11 was undoubtedly one of the worst tragedies in world history, how many blocks need to be reconstructed? Katrina was a natural disaster that leveled the entire city. Has reconstruction on ground zero even started yet? I think that was more his point.

So, I can see his point if he's criticized for not rebuilding NO in a year. It might not have been the most tactful comparison, but take that away, and I have to somewhat agree with him. :2 cents:

He is one of those that thinks building a skyscraper shouldn't take any longer than towing a car I guess.

It IS amazing that he got relected after he fell completely apart during katrina.

If it had been in NYC, every car would be a small cube by now.

To be fair on that, people care more about New York, especially businessmen that would be willing to inject a lot of money. I could also see the people of New York outside on the streets busting their ass getting things back to "normal". New Yorkers are very proud people.

It always struck me as odd that so many people in the Katrina disaster area stood around watching and waiting for others to get in there and help instead of getting things back to normal themselves.
