Microwaves, ever look at the top of yours?

I clean my microwave out alot, but we always seem to slack on the inside top wall and have to give it a good scrub once a month, have you ever noticed how much shit pops up there? YUCK!

How often do you clean your WHOLE microwave?

jimthefiend 08-29-2006 09:48 AM

Weekly.

I'm a neat freak.

Deraj 08-29-2006 09:51 AM

I try and avoid the top of the microwave.. denial can be a beautiful thing =)

BluewireAngie 08-29-2006 09:52 AM

I clean it right away after using it with damp tissue paper.

E$_manager 08-29-2006 09:53 AM

Is it a not a

E$_manager 08-29-2006 09:53 AM

Is it a question with a hint?:winkwink:

Tom_PM 08-29-2006 09:56 AM

I clean mine pretty often. I usually wet a paper towel in a bowl and nuke it until it's all steamy in there, then grab it with another towel and scrub the hell out of the top and the corners first. I hate when I didnt cover something and it pops and splatters in there.

gangbangjoe 08-29-2006 09:56 AM

i don't have a microwave

if you have read about it what i have you would understand

I had a microwave, used it maybe a dozen time between 2000 and 2003 when it broke down, never looked back. Food reheated in the oven tastes a LOT better, even if it takes 12 minutes when I could do it in 3..

I do the same, usually I cover anything that has a tendancy to explode, soups, pastas, etc... But it still ends up dirty... I miss my gas stove....

free4porn 08-29-2006 10:11 AM

baddog 08-29-2006 10:13 AM

You ...miss... your gas stove? You mean the only way you can warm food is with a microwave? :uhoh

Doctor Dre 08-29-2006 10:21 AM

At least every week ... this gets sick really quickly.

I don't like to wait for the burner to heat up in this house, it's a weak ass stove... Our last house had gas burners and you could cook something almost as fast as in the microwave.. These burner take like 5-10 minutes to heat up good and cook soup...

Jakke PNG 08-29-2006 10:29 AM

I think 5-10 minutes to warm a soup is pretty normal. That what it takes with my electric stove as well. Do you cook at all? Or do you just eat out, order in or buy tv-dinners? :)

Fizzgig 08-29-2006 10:31 AM

Every time I use it!

WiredGuy 08-29-2006 10:31 AM

I prefer to cook using the stove and oven, tastes so much better :)

Usually my wife cooks for me... Other than that yeah I order out alot, I goto the local market with the good precooked food alot and get some healthy stuff when I can, otherwise I eat shitty fast food.

My old stove used to heat soup in about 2-3 minutes. We used to not have a microwave at our old house.. It was just easier with gas....

Tom_PM 08-29-2006 10:33 AM

I have an older style electric stove top, so the burners heat super fast. But I know someone who had one of those flat topped ones that she said would take 5 minutes just to get hot.. that'd drive me nuts!

pornboat 08-29-2006 10:38 AM

you should do it once a month at least, and whenever theres food leftover in there. it will keep getting cooked over and over and eventually eat the special paint thats on the inside, and start arc'ing.

and thats not good.

try putting a cd in the microwave for one second and see waht happens :)

american pervert 08-29-2006 10:45 AM

i clean mine after i use it.. dont use it that often though

Exactly, it drives me nuts waiting... These are the old burner style ones, but it takes a while, I think maybe the burners need replacing.. they are all large size, maybe I should get some smaller ones...

I have electric and it blows. Once you cook on gas it's hard to adjust to electric stoves. I'm going to go pour a beer for my gas stoves of past now. :(

Vitasoy 08-29-2006 11:54 AM

Haven't cleaned mine in months..

E$_manager 08-29-2006 04:42 PM

i clean once a month.

Scott McD 08-29-2006 04:44 PM

Never. I have a bitch to do that shit for me... :winkwink:

Somehow I just do not believe you. Would love to see some credible facts on this and not from conspiracy nut case or roid sites.

Dunno about vitamins but the taste sure goes bye bye. Scramble an egg on the stove then scramble one in the wave. Smells like shit, tastes like shit.

Of course but that has to do with egg protiens, water and the way microwaves work. Though you can make a real tasty poached egg in the microwave.

It just is all about how you use it, what for, and knowing the concepts behind certain foods.

Herb Kornfield 08-29-2006 04:52 PM

Its cleaned 2x a month .... 2 in the house, both used a handful of times.

but the house has 2 full kitchens ( one with a gas stove + oven + Microwave, the other is Electric stove, Microwave + Electric oven ) ... all stainless appliances.............................

Reasons for 2 kitchens: Because I can ;)
