Why is reliable UPS so important for SEO...
A power loss could even bring MySpace down:

I didn't want to be malicious by quoting this article (accidents happen all the time), but if you are into any serious SEO (my main source of income), you should take care of your site's uptime. Last time I've lost all of my search engine positions, due to couple of hours downtime (sites transfering between servers). I needed almost 3 weeks to get back... :( |
Interesting read! Thanks!

Dreamhost's blog is very very very interesting to read. They have many good articles and some articles are very funny because they make fun of themselves as a company.

It's why I pay so much for a single extremely reliable server that I cannot afford to ever go down. Mirrored in the UK, Raid, multiple HD's, hot swapable everything, its one hell of a server that should never ever go down.

Nice setup WiredGuy, is it the same hosting company ? is it IBM ? they have datacenters everywhere, mostly for govs and they dont usually take regular clients.

It's Rackspace, not cheap at all, but they're really a mission critical host. $3.50/gig, yikes :winkwink: WG |

This issue extends to hosting companies who don't realize that even 2-5 minute outages throughout the day (when they reboot servers/networks) can kill a site's SE ranks.
In addition to power backup, make sure your host offers reliable *web service* uptime - many that claim 99% uptime do not mean that your web pages will be accessible 99% of the time. |

i'm also interested in one thing: in case of power outage, there's no backup power. how's that possible?!
