Ernesto Damage: My House, Florida Keys (PIC)

What a crock of shit. I?ve lived in Florida over 20 years. Anyone in Florida remember when this much shit was caused by a tropical storm? My bet is on NEVER. I remember the days when we still had school during CAT 1 hurricanes.

The hype around this storm was just media sensationalism. I mean come on? we were in a bar screwing with the Weather Channel news team while they stood outside in rain gear and a parking lot puddle trying to say we were flooded. Also the government and businesses used it as a big excuse to take a couple days off or to make triple-time wages manning hurricane readiness facilities. What a big screw to all the tax payers in Florida.

You must not be watching the news right now. People are dying further up the coast.

Sammy4u 09-01-2006 11:22 AM

Well, at least your clean up will be a breeze!

pornguy 09-01-2006 11:27 AM

It will take at least 3 clean up crews of 5 people each to figure out how to remove that

PimpDaddyPants 09-01-2006 11:31 AM

You should call waste management to come pick up that debri of your yard hehe.

Cyndalie 09-01-2006 11:32 AM

We never closed the office. Hell we worked through Katrina.
I think most people freaked cause they its the first storm of the season and they wanted a day off anyway.

nick3131 09-01-2006 11:32 AM

hahahaha great thread

i keep telling everyone, floridians worry less about hurricanes then people think

to most of us, expecially the northern parts, or the ones that dont live on the coast its a minor inconvinience.

I know that at least 2 died in Virginia. I'm not trivializing the flooding going on up there from the rainfall. I'm talking about when it blew through Florida and the mismanagement of Emergency Services in this state.

Yeah, down here I worry more about elderly drivers, a Cuban exodus when Castro dies, and which reef is going to catch me the largest grouper.

Tom_PM 09-01-2006 11:47 AM

I loved that video last year of the reporter in a canoe looking all haggard then 2 guys come walking into the shot and the water was about ankle deep, lmao.

Try to hang in there and stay safe!!!!!!!!11
:1orglaugh

Tom_PM 09-01-2006 11:50 AM

In fairness though, it was barely a tropical storm right? How can they tell people it wont be a killer after last season? They'll be telling you that for years now no matter what.

shake 09-01-2006 11:53 AM

Looks like you'll survive :thumbsup

I'm sure they will. But it's going to become an expensive and tradgic "cry wolf" scenario. People are going fall back into that "whatever" mode around here and get fucked when a bad one creeps up on them.

Big Red Machine 09-01-2006 12:08 PM

That branch looked like it died from old age....lol
Well atleast you were safe this time.

:1orglaugh How ever will you clean it up?

But sadly, I would suspect it possible that the response to your broken branch might be quicker than it was to New Orleans during Katrina. Our countries emergency management decisions leave MUCH to be desired. :Oh crap

ladida 09-01-2006 12:43 PM

Why do you people build paper houses anyway down there?

Verbal 09-01-2006 12:51 PM

LMAO!! That is some funny shit! Guess you have to be in FL to truly appreciate it! ;) Glad you're ok though.
