1. Determine what time it is in Poland. Poland is 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time, which means it is 6 hours later in Poland than it is on the East Coast of the United States, and 9 hours later than it is on the West Coast.

2. Remember that in recent years the Polish phone system has undergone a major overhaul, which means that many phone numbers may be out of date. New numbers are typically seven digits; old numbers were six digits.

3. Keep a phrase book handy and brush up on your Polish. While many Poles working in the tourist industry speak some English, you'll find that many others don't speak any English at all.

4. Dial 011, the international access code.

5. Dial 48, the Polish country code.

6. Remove the 0 from the beginning of the city code. Some city codes for major cities in Poland include 022 for Warsaw, 012 for Krakow and 058 for Gdansk.

7. Dial the remaining digits.

Tips

If you're having problems getting through (not uncommon when calling Poland), dial 00 for the international operator and ask him or her to place the call.

Calling between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. or on weekends will often cost up to 50 percent less than calling during business hours. Call your long-distance carrier to find out which hours are cheapest to call internationally with your long-distance plan.

Damn, you gotta be kidding. I was in Kamienna Gora one month ago. Guess the world's really small, huh?

Country Code Poland: +48
City Code Kamienna Gora: 75

So you have to dial 004875 + the number of the person you wanna call. At least I think that's correct - have to admit that this is only information from the internet, never called someone there.

OneWhoKnows 09-02-2006 08:51 AM

Yeah, sorry - like Acne said, 0114875 + the number.

If you want to call someone in Kamienna Gora from Germany the above number would have been correct though :1orglaugh

by default cell phone plans have international calling disabled, and may be pricely if you request it.
if you want to make international call from your cell, buy a calling card - most groceryy stores carry them, check out which calling card best suits you, some cards give good rate to eastern europe, other latin america, etc.

Pick up the phone. Dial zero. Say "I want to call poland". The rest is simple.

You gotta scroll down pretty far though, don't get an answer until result #1.

What did you do? Type in "Google, can you please make a long distance call to Poland for me?".

http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...atio nal+call
First result tells you how to place an international call.

http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...+Kamienna+Gora
First result tells you the city code for Kamienna Gora.

Took less than 30 seconds.
