How Many People Here Were 'Left Back'?

i'm sure you had an excuse - ADD or dyslexia or some shit - so don't be embarassed to admit you flunked a grade.

do they still flunk kids and make them repeat a grade or the bleeding hearts decided lifelong scarring childhood humiliation is out of vogue?

Left back,
Shit you had to be pretty dumb around here to be left back.
I went to school here in the midwest and in Delaware.

Here I was four grades ahead well three in some things four in others and almost ready for college when I was 12. I quit school when I was 12 to hustle cable TV and learned anything I gave a fuck about on my own.

That worked out alot better for me. In school we had 4th graders who couldn't read and teachers who couldn't say the word incinerator. Shit.

I never got left back but most of the time I was in so much trouble I had to come in in the morning and go straight to the "office" and I did all of my "work" in under an hour and then set there all day doing puzzles

School is stupid

I never got left back, which was surprising because of my refusal to read books. I always managed to retain around 90% of what I heard so I always did fairly well on tests.

I wasn't left back. But before high-school I skipped classes etc and had to attend '10th grade' in order to up my grades enough to be admitted to high-school. 9th grade is the last mandatory class in finland.

I didn't get my grades upped in 10th grade but weaseled myself into high-school, got my diploma, weaseled myself into college and got my bachelors from there.

Haven't studied a minute since I turned 12 years old. Schools were too easy. Idiots like me could get collegedegrees without ANY effort.

They don't do that, anymore. It's called "No Child Left Behind," which is bullshit. Even if it makes the rest of the class suffer, they'll keep pandering to the dumbtarded; after all, smart people aren't usually happy with working at Jack in the Box.

I was held back in 7th grade. Not because i couldnt do the work, but because i just simply didnt do a lot of the work. Especially home work. I just had no interest in school. I went and got my GED in 11th grade and never looked back. Life has yet to stump me..

I was 'left back' in 10th grade. It was the time when I started discovering drugs, sex and rock'n roll and stopped doing homework ;). But I covered up in the meantime and got my "high school diploma" (it's a bit different here in germany), job training in IT, and now i am going for a computer science diploma next year :)

I failed 8th grade, twice because I rarely went to school. Then I quit in 9th grade.

I fucked up in 6th grade and was held back, but it was totally awsome because I got to do science camp twice because of that.. Science camp in california is AWSOME, there were hot ass girls, and the camp counselors were hot too...

I don't regret being held back at all..

My sister was held back in second grade because they said she was having problems reading. Turned out she was more or less blind and needed mega glasses. I remember my parents being beyond mad that nobody mentioned her problems to them until the last part of the year. Anyway, she got glasses and is now a teacher. Sometimes being held back is what is needed.

My mom was in People magazine (the one with Vanessa Williams on the cover for being stripped of her Miss America title) and on the Phil Donahue show for retaining or "holding back" an entire kindergarten class.
