Would the World be better off without Religion?<POLL>

With all the terrorist, pedphiles, wars, hate and discrimination that is a direct result of religion ...Would the World be better off without Religion?

Cyber Fucker 09-16-2006 07:46 AM

perhaps...

Nicky 09-16-2006 07:47 AM

I love the "wrold" :)

Barefootsies 09-16-2006 07:47 AM

Taken as a 'whole'?

Yes.

iforgotmyscreenname 09-16-2006 07:49 AM

what was it john lennon said about "no religion too".......
ahh, hell, i agree? lol lol lol lol :1orglaugh

Furious_Female 09-16-2006 07:58 AM

Yes and no. I'm not a religious person. At best, I'd classify myself an agnostic.

Yes, for so many obvious reasons.

No, because it does have it benefits. The fear of "God" keeps a lot of people in line. Can you imagine what the world would be like if there weren't people who feared burning in hell etc? Personally, I'm happy to see the sheeple kept in their imaginary world, it makes my life a bit easier. This planet is not ready for the truth. We have not evolved that much yet.

Organized religion is the most brilliant and best selling scheme man invented. It makes more money than adult and any other industry on earth combined.

I don't think the human race is yet quite mature enough to completely lose religion, but at some point in the future I hope we will be enlightened enough to let it go.

carol.prime 09-16-2006 08:06 AM

Could be a whole lot better :)

KRL 09-16-2006 08:14 AM

Yes, because organized religion is the root cause of many of the world's conflicts.

Faith is fine, and should stay, but religion is causing too many problems.

psili 09-16-2006 08:32 AM

People will always find a way to war with each other; religion or no religion.

MyNameIsNobody 09-16-2006 09:07 AM

I think the world would be a much better place if all people were buddhist.. atleast to some extent

The Demon 09-16-2006 09:10 AM

The world will never be mature enough to lose religion.

scottybuzz 09-16-2006 10:15 AM

hmmmmmmmmmmmm

the alchemist 09-16-2006 10:18 AM

Yes, yes it should. I can't believe they're still around and that people are making wars about fairytales. If human beings would start believing in themselves and help each other instead of that, this world could be a great place. :2 cents:

rip raster 09-16-2006 10:30 AM

of course the world as a whole would be better of without religion

Ace_luffy 09-16-2006 10:36 AM

of course

TRUE DAT

:thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

Jace 09-16-2006 11:04 AM

what you all don't seem to realize is that even if the world didn't have religion, those same people you refer to as being crazy because of religion would find another outlet to blame their crazy on

PlugRush Sascha 09-16-2006 11:05 AM

The answer is yes.

Elli 09-16-2006 12:57 PM

You need to clarify:

Would the world be better off if people weren't permitted to have religion?

OR

Would the world be better off if people somehow didn't feel they needed religion?

Waveu6410 09-16-2006 01:04 PM

Yes, indeed it would be.

JD 09-16-2006 01:07 PM

I think the world would be better off, but at the same time it would/could potentially be a much more dangerous place. If religion wasn't there the earth would be a very scientific place. WAY more than it is now as there'd be no "playing god" arguement and there'd be some seriously fucked up things happening.

After Shock Media 09-16-2006 01:20 PM

Without religion all you freaks would have different jobs, and well I refuse to think that the world would be a better place with some of you wierdos in charge of something else.

69pornlinks 09-16-2006 01:24 PM

religion is not the problem it's the people who follow the religion...

i mean most if not all KKK are christians, but you hardly hear how violent christianity is...damn they use to bomb churches with little girls inside, but that's not here nor there...:)

just like the old saying guns don't kill people husbands who come home early kill people

notabook 09-16-2006 01:31 PM

The vast majority of organized religions start out as a fairly innocent thing; they unite their fellow man to a common goal, whatever that may be, and unify us as one people rather than separate us by race. Religion by itself is fairly benign, that is, until some assfucks get together and decide to abuse the system for personal gain. Soon (and sooner than later) religion becomes a monster and those who follow it become zealots. Your neighbor isn't the same religion as you? Just kill him and take his land =) You don't pay 10% of what you earn? Well fuck you buddy, your going to the worst place imaginable where it stinks to high heaven and there is no escape from it... no, not New Jersey, but HELL!

That said, there is a religion out there that is peaceful to the very core, and that is Archiotism, the belief in an all powerful robot God. What could be saner than the belief in an all powerful robotic being that manipulates the great Megasphere for all eternity, leading to great prosperity for all of those that believe in him? Archiot loves each and every one of his Unis and if we believe in him he will grant us leave of the Spheres when we die, even the great Megasphere itself, and we shall travel beyond them all in order to be with our god Archiot in order to manipulate the Megasphere along side our creator for all eternity inside our newly constructed robotic shell.

Tough question....

DEA - banned for life 09-16-2006 03:21 PM

think im sending the results of this poll to CNN and MSNBC news

chaze 09-16-2006 03:24 PM

Yes, people think that we would be to wild but really we would be civilized just as easily and actually less violent.

Religion even now should not be practiced in business type church environments. Only in homes.

A very valid and interesting perspective. :thumbsup
Are our morals guided by religion, whether we believe in God or not? No serious scientist today would every want to clone humans, but all voice the importance of stem cell research. American scientists have strict guidelines and difficulty in obtaining funding to work on stem cells because of Bush's religious beliefs. Yet why do we accept that cloning humans is unethical?

Why is murder unacceptable in society.

Why is polygamy unacceptable in Christian society?

Neanderthal man didn't know religion. If he wanted a shag he went to the next cave, clubbed the male occupant and took his woman for a right rodgering. Is it today's society that has deemed this unacceptable behaviour, all on its own, or is it the religious right hand delivering the message?

i agree completely. if its not God or Allah, it will be a blue pickel on the moon. it doesn't matter.

further, the absense of religion is an idea that assumes man could abandone hope of an afterlife.. which just isnt going to happen.

science IS religion as well. its about believing in things, having faith in those ideas and trying to prove them correct or searching for some sign to affirm the validity of the idea or theory. no different than the average islamc fundamentalist or catholic priest or terrorist.

i can argue that god caused a car accident just as easily as you can explain the physics involved... it all comes down to what YOU choose to accept as an explanation that YOU are comfortable with.
:2 cents:

E$_manager 09-17-2006 05:11 PM

No. Religion is the addition to government interdictions.
There was also governement before Christ, but human life was nothing.

TSGlider 09-17-2006 06:56 PM

The world would not be better off without religion.
However, the world would be better off without ORGANIZED religion.

Z 09-17-2006 07:19 PM

Religion is a necessity for controlling the masses. As one good man said, "An opiate for the masses."

Be a sheep or the shepherd...your choice.

minusonebit 09-17-2006 08:04 PM

The people that voted no are prolly Bush lovers.

thricer 09-17-2006 08:13 PM

It would be better definetly
