Monitors

Currenlty I do all my programing on a 15" flatscreen thinking of upgrading to 17 or 18 inch flatscreen they cost around 600 buck now, anyone think its worth it?

shanet12 06-25-2002 08:59 AM

a 15" monitor??

jesus. they still make those things?

Seb From Holland 06-25-2002 10:01 AM

flatscreen, learn to read fucker. they sell 15" flatscreens like mad these days.

it's definately worth it - I have a 17" myself, it rocks! :thumbsup

Sebastian.

kmanrox 06-25-2002 10:03 AM

what makes a flatscreen so good other than saved space? is the pixelation that much better? ie a 17" flattie would be better than my hooptie 21" ?

Jon 06-25-2002 10:03 AM

26" here.. almost as big as my cock.

I got my 19'in ViewSonic flatscreen from best buy for $300 with a $100 mail in rebate :Graucho

salsbury 06-25-2002 10:07 AM

fwiw,

17" CRTs are actually 15-16" "viewable"

LCDs are measured corner to corner exactly.

so a 15" flatscreen LCD is about the same size as a 17" CRT. not tiny, not huge, just about right.

tho i love my viewsonic 19" CRTs.

(i'm assuming he meant LCD flatscreens, of course.. i'll delete this if i'm wrong.)

Seb From Holland 06-25-2002 10:07 AM

The pixelation of flatscreen monitors is much better, the screen is more (calm) and better to work with if you are sitting behind your pc long times a day. I'm really enjoying it. More free space is definately a big advantage. Plus, a 17" flatscreen is like a 19" CTR monitor.

Sly_RJ 06-25-2002 10:22 AM

I fucking hate monitors. I'm looking at a 19" flat screen (LCD) for my new beast. Getting anxious as hell for it...

The one I was looking at came through the Dell package I'm ordering, it was an additional $400.

I assume we are talking about flatscreen LCD's here.

I'm still not sold on LCD's (even though I bought one once, and returned it 3 days later). The technology still sucks compaired to high end CRT's. Doing graphic work on LCD's is a problem due to poor color management. As for the tiny 15in LCD's, try using one of those at their standard 1024x768 res. Good luck.

My main monitor is a Sony Trinitron 18in viewable flatscreen CRT. Nothing tops the Trinitron's. Although, the high end View Sonic's are very nice too.

I use an old 21 inch viewsonic g790 graphic series at work...a buddy of mine has a hitachi cm772 that is sweet and could be had for like $380 shipping and tax included.

I want the monitor that doubles as a television... that's cooooool.
